Great, thanks again Craig !!! Looking forward to seeing some pics. of your install. You won't be disappointed, this pump is very smooth and quite, yet provides more than enough flow for what I need.

Scott W.

Nice looking pump, any updates?? Has anybody else tried this pump? Iquiring minds want to Know if this pump will last and is a fix to our lift pump woes.

Jeepthing, nothing new to report. Mine's working great, but it's only been 4 months. I'll start to get excited when I hit next April. Until then it's a waiting game. The only other thing I can say is that this pump is more than anyone will need in regards to flow and psi's. Mine's set at 15 psi's post filter at idle which equals about 10 psi's at the start of a HARD WOT RUN. It rebounds very quickly and sticks around 12 psi's while under HEAVY throttle. That's with the BD 5's, an Edge EZ and the TST PM3 Comp. box set on KILL. Normal cruising at 55 on flat ground equals 14 psi's.

Scott W.

I have about 10k miles on mine so far so good.

Idles at about 13 psi goes down the highway at about 11-12 psi.

It pulls down to about 9 psi at WOT.

I intend to pull it and send back to the mfg to be diasected in November, just to see how it's holding up. That will be at the 6 month mark and I estimate about 15k miles.

As soon as I get a report back I will post it.

I'm still happy.

Craig

I may have missed this

Scott,

What type of pump is that baby?

Does it have the rattle of the Summit/stock pump?

In which case it's a sliding vane mechanism.

Or is it an internal gear pump like the Mallory which is rather quiet?

Nowel, it's a vaned pump ( 7 vanes). Keyed on without a start it sounds just like the Mallory 4150 did. I can't hear it over the stackasorous when the truck is running ;) .

Scott W.

Seven Vanes!

Seven vanes is impressive. The Holley only had four, the stocker had four, not sure about the Aeromotive. It must have an impressive motor to turn what must be a heavier rotating assembly.

Your right Scott, you have another 6-8 months before any conclusions can be drawn. I'm hoping for the best:)

Although mine has only been on for a couple months, it's working great, still the same pressure(s) and no trouble at all. Last time I heard from Scott his was also still rockin'.

Later, Rob

Very Timely

It's interesting to note that I just emailed Scott to get an update on the PE pump. He indicated all is well and the pump is working as good as new.

GiesJ, as Nowel noted, all is well and it's getting a good workout with these sub zero temps we have been seeing. It will be on year come this time in April.

Something to note... psi's average about 1 higher with the cold fuel and the PE pump, while my psi's were always lower with cold fuel V. warm fuel when I running the Mallory pump ??? Perhaps the difference of a gerator design to a vaned design ???

Regardless, zero complaints on the PE to date.

Scott W.

Scott, great news on the PE pump. I'm definitely thinking of this as my pump to install, along with a totally new fuel system later this year.

Tom

Saint,

Can I ask why you went with the 4100 instead of the 4200?

I am looking to install one of these to complete my fuel system and ditch the lift pump but I was planning to go with the 4200 just to be on the safe side.

Bill

Bill,

The way I understand it, is that they are the same pumps (4100 and 4200) just a different spring, which is simple to replace if you want a higher pressure. I have the 4200.

Later, Rob

PE4200 is fantastic...

I have one of the first PE4200's that was produced. I am happy to report it is still doing great. I believe when Scott got his PE4100 that was the only choice. The PE4200 came out several months later.

I got my PE4200 from Doug and Andy at Advanced Diesel Technology. I believe they were one of the first distributors of this product. They put together a really nice custom made kit built to your specifications.

Lastly... I love the 2 year no questions asked warranty provided to us by P. E. (Product Engineering).

WHAT A GREAT PRODUCT... :)

I went with the 4100 because I wanted to keep my psi's around 15-16 pre-filter, I really don't want more than that. Rob is correct, from what I understand and after speaking with the techs. /owners at PE, the only difference between the 4100 and 4200 is the internal spring, which is used to set the pumps pressure.

After I had the pump in for about 3 months, I started to notice a drop of maybe 1/2 to 1 psi. I spoke with the guys at PE and they believed the small drop was due to the spring relaxing slightly. I removed the spring and very carefully stretched it back to it's original length. My psi's have ben extremely consistant since. The bypass spring is very easy to remove, the pump remains attached to the frame. There is a anodized cap at the bottom of the pump which you remove ( be prepared for a bath in diesel if you don't a shut off vavle pre-pump) and you have to watch for the ball that rests at the end of the spring.

My pump is unprotected from the elements and completely covered in road salt/grime from the winter. If it survives through these subzero temps with the cold fuel I will be truly immpressed. Again, time will tell ;) .

As Patriot stated, the best part is the fact that PE will stand behind their product, backing it with a 2 year unlimited warranty. That's what convinced me to try it.

Scott W.

Saint,

Thanks for the info. I am trying to get a hold of Advanced Diesel to get mine and the rest of my fuel system.

I can't wait to get the 4200 on my truck.

Bill

thanks for the info guys. When the time comes (read: piggy bank full) I think this is the route to take. I spoke with Andy at Smokin Diesel and he was just awesome, answered my questions and had a lot of patience for someone as green as me. Thanks,

jason

ps - I'm currently preparing for a stock lift pump replacement this weekend, if anyone has any tips that might help me, please email or pm me, I'd really appreciate it. I'm off to do some searching.
