Anybody used / using them? If so, how do you like them and what are the part numbers? I would someday like to replace all of the factory gauges (half are inop on my truck anyway) with aftermarket gauges. This of course will be as the funds allow. But for right now, I would like to put in a electronic speedometer, tachometer, pyro, and boost gauges. It'd be great if they matched.

Any advice or suggestions?

I've been wondering about the same thing. I've posted the same question here in the past and never recv'd a clear answer.

VDO and Automter both make electronic speedos that, looking at the instillation instructions, SHOULD be able to be driven by the OEM electronic speed sensor. I am going to attempt to use the VDO in the project in my sig. I've built a whole new custom dash for the rig. I wanted an ammeter, oil pressure, and temp guage with NUMBERS on them, not this "L-H/C-H" crap. I also wanted to eliminate the wobbly-needle syndrome of the old cable-driven speedo. Of course, I also wanted boost, pyro and tach, but I s'pose that goes without sayin'. :D

michigandon,

Contacted the Summit about the programmable electronic speedometer. The tech support guy was not sure if the speedometers sending unit would fit the Getrag. He suggested calling VDO & Autometer. For the Ford and Chevy applications they use a 16 pulse / rev. hall effect sensor sending unit, which they did have in stock. Seems to me if the sensor would screw on to the housing of the speedometer output and be able to sense the revolutions of the original speedometer gear it would work, it being programmable.

Just thinking out loud. Will try to contact VDO and Autometer.

Let you know what I find out
