Change of Responsibilities

Friend needs P7100 Rebuilt-where? (Denver area)

I have been getting quite a few calls lately about relocating the Lift Pumps to provide better fuel flow for the VP44 pump'd trucks. This is important! Just last night I talked with a guy soon to be a member who just had his VP44 replaced under warranty but DC in all their infinite wisdom did not and will not replace his LP that goes to vaccum when WOT saying that wasnt the cause of the problem. My question being, how many of you RMTDR members would be interested in a wrench day dedicated for helping willing and wanting members relocate lift pumps or put in premanufactured systems to allieviate that problem? Some of you have seen my homemade kit dubbed the "water hose" or "fire hose" system. It works great and parts can be bought at local hardware stores for about $50-$60 total. My thinking is those that want to do this type of setup or an aftermarket setup lets hold a wrench day dedicated to this to help all that want to do it. I need help finding a large shop that we can slip 3 or 4 trucks in and out of the elements, anyone have any ideas? Please post here if you are interested in this idea.

Jeff

Excellent idea Jeff. Does the shop need to have lifts? I'll do some checking on a possibility that does not have lifts. Don't get your hopes up though. Craig

Nah, we dont need no stinkin lifts. :D

Seriously though, any shop that we could work in an area out of the elements will do just fine. Dont need any fancy tools or nothing, just some dry room to work in.

Ok guys, so far we have 4 trucks total that want to get this done. I am searching like crazy but having a hard time finding a shop that we can use. Anyone have some connections?

What about checking with Clint at ATS in Lakewood (?)

Does his shop do the LP revamp????

He may do one, but it's not this one. This is strictly a DIY kit where all the parts can be found at your local auto parts/or hardware store.

It is a fix for the bad deal DC made with Cummins.

I might be interested in this too. I'm contemplating a COMP next week when I get my OFE and am getting a little scared!

keep me posted and thanks for setting this up.

No teasing, but it does look positive so far. I'll tell ya, I have called about a dozen or more shops with people I know well and all have said no. The want to support the club but the whole liability thing scares them off. If we get this together I bet we will have to sign a release waiver to be there. No big deal to me though.

Jeff

Oo. Oo. Ok, we have confirmation from the shop that we can do it!! Right now we are trying to tie down a spefic date either in December or January for this event. Will have an answer this week in regards to the date. Check this thread thru-out the week for the 411 on this.

Oo. Oo. Oo.

WRENCH DAY WRENCH DAY WRENCH DAY

Better start sending out the shopping lists for the parts needed on the LP relocation.

Maybe a few Water/Meth's to install as well

Two Days?!?

Sounds great! Any closer to pinning a date? I am interested in going, I won't be relocating the LP, but I want to see how it is done and what all the parts and tools needed.

MAC

I talked to Jeff about this. He, (or we) are going to try to set up a "TDR LP" kit with with the retailer that he got his parts from. The kit will have all the needed parts for the relocation, with the exception of the mount for the pump on the frame rail.

Add it to our list o' crap to do.

Heres the scenario as of right now. ATS is loaning us shop room for this expedition. Sure nice of them to do this. I tried a dozen or more other shops before the brain got tickin and asked Ranee and Clint if this would be cool. Every other shop turned me down like a Junior at the Senior Prom. Clint and Ranee are good people! As of this moment we (ATS and the TDR) are trying to determine a Saturday that works out. The shop I bought my parts at is willing to piece together kits and give you all a price break. Have had PM requests asking to hold off til after the holidays which makes sense yet Stock Show is around the corner in January. I bet we end up doing this early January. Awful hospitalable of ATS to house us for a shindig a month before the big show in Febuary. I am out of town all next week but by Friday night I hope to post a firm date on this.

Ok folks its all arranged!! Write down the following:

Date: January 3rd

Time: 10am

Where: ATS Diesel Performance

4295 Kipling Ave

Wheatridge, CO 80033

303-431-7973

Lift Pump relocation session to be held. We have had an overwhelming reponse of people wanting to do this and unfortunately, I dont think we will be able to get everyones truck done simply due to the time factor. I anticipate 4-5 trucks could be done at best. For those interested I will arrange for a "kit" buy from Rocky Mountain Supply which is where I got my stuff to buy all the parts needed minus a lift pump bracket. You will then just need to call any RMS store, place your order, and pick up your "kit" For those trucks that dont get done you will certainly go home with the knowledge to do yours and maybe make abuddy willing to come help!

Please thank ATS for allowing us to do this at their place, they are being awful gracious considering stock show is just around the corner from then and their lifes will be very busy.
