Oil Additives!

turbinesurgun, Like everyone else I use to look for some additive that would make my engine run better... last longer... better mileage. . etc. . I've given up on that and just put in a good quality motor oil.

Every time you get the urge to add a can of "snake-oil"... just change out your oil and filter instead. I guarantee thats good for your engine... and probabley cost the same.

In the long run it is bad for the motor. It becomes corrosive after a while.

I was into additives for a while including ProLong but finally got smart and now stay far away from all that stuff. Today's oils don't need all this stuff added, they work great alone. I ran some ProLong in a little Briggs & Stratton I have and then drained it out. It didn't run very long until it got tight. I can't remember how long it ran for sure but I think it was about 8 minutes.
