Would like to find out some more info on the subject and Is there anyone here on the forum-running it for increased mileage-thanks Poor

Propane tends to cause high combustion pressures and can be quite damaging if not used with discression. You won't find many people on this board with good things to say about it.

One of the major problems us 1st gen guys have is with fueling... when we finally get the pump tweaked and harrassed upward to really flow some fuel, we face the problem almost all single turbo guys face... . nasty EGT's... ... just look around/ask about this problem for some insights...

The water/meth system is fairly new to me as well... I'm running a Snow Stage 2 HD variable system and I really like it.

I find it to be very "tunable" and will really help with EGT's AND add some HP if you want that as well.

You can run just the water only option and you have two seperate stages of supply.

You set the low end onset of supply and the upper end onset for full duty cycle.

I saw approx. 300*F reduction in my EGT's when running my truck in valet mode... this is basic pump fuel only, no AFC fueling at all.

If I held the pedal down long enough I'd reach about 1300*F... with the 70%water/30% meth mix I dropped to approx 950-1000*F on the same test hill under the same conditions with no other changes... the higher the water percentage the lower the EGT's. . to a point.

If I activate the "high power" mode (full AFC fueling available) then I'd reach 1600*-1700*F real fast with no WM.

If I activated the WM system I'd drop down to about 1350*1400*F and that is with the "ugly fueling" on line and the WM mix as noted above.

I am currently running about 40/water;60/meth.

With this mix I still see below 1200*F in "low power mode" and have a REAL NICE boost in performance to go along with it.

When I allow the second stage WM to kick in (about 30psi boost) then the old girl just git's up and boogies like nuts..... in this case I still see pretty high temps, around 1500*F but that is a far cry from what it was without the WM and without the good jump in performance/HP feel with the WM on line.

BTW, I am still running on a stock head/gasket etc... . 'course, there's no guarantee's that will continue without some possible "oh no's " from this playing but all in all, I really like the system and its' been worth the cost as far as I'm concerned and it helps us single turbo guys do a bit better all around.

pb.....

Sorry I didn't check your answer before I sent an email-thanks PB for the reply-any thought on a DIY piece project on the water meth-instead of the expensive kit-thanks all for the info!

BushWakr,

How long do you run at this temp (1500*F) ?

I try not to hit that level of EGT's at all but if you're gonna play with this stuff you end up venturing into that zone...

I do not do any sustained runs in that temp range... just the occasional 'bonzai run' or to play with someone on the highway...

A well known and respected guy in this sport suggests:

1250*F all day long

1350*F one minute out of five

1500*F 15 seconds AND Cherynobl any minute.....

pb... .

any thought on a DIY piece project on the water meth-instead of the expensive kit

There was a thread on a DIY setup a few months ago in the DTR

What about any down sides to methanol? Pitting the bearings? Oil contamination? Not putting enough through to matter?

Seems to me that water/propane injection would be the way to go... any thoughts?

1250F on almost any alloy steel will result in creep fatigue phenomona . . . i. e. shortening of the life of the steel. If you want the standard types of alloy steel used in our first gens to have an infinite life span (at least from creep fatigue), keep the EGT's below 1000F. Above 1000F, the life span of the steel starts to become finite. . . . . . the higher the temperature, the smaller the finite amount of life.
