Is there anybody running propane on there CTD, does it help power any, what about milage? Is propane hard on the motor? I would like to hear the pro's and con's of using propane.
Used it QUITE successfully on my '91 - took 20% off my 0-60 times, and kept me one range higher on the transmission when pulling in the mounatains - the vapor type (like mine was) are more conservative and less likely to have/cause any problems - they are pretty forgiving unless you get REAL carried away. They WILL deliver 1-2 more mpg average IF you will keep your foot out of it!
I had the Power Shot 2000 setup as far as *I* am concerned, the most adjustable and reasonably priced available - and Keith will bend over backwards to give halp and answer questions!
Sorta depends on what other mods you have on your truck - or intend to install, and what power level you set it at - a rough guess would be a max of 85 hp or so, and perhaps 150 ft lbs torque, on a stock engine like yours - various suppliers can give you dyno readings on their individual products...
BUT be aware, propane is like any OTHER power mod - extra power comes at a potential increase in breakage and failure in various engine and drivetrain components...
I have a 2 stage setup and was wondering where i could plumb in my pressure switches, so they sense boost pressure and turn on the propane, at a certain amount of boost pressure?
