Thanks for the words of wisdom. A blown head gasket is the last thing I need. This is my daily driver. I always wanted a diesel, I take good care of it, do not abuse it, just use it, tow little. I have it just in case I really need the grunt to tow something. Mileage is good, 33500 miles, so far no trouble. Camp some, 5000 lb. 73 Airstream. Use the ATS Torque Pro 2000. I guess my point is, I hope I get 3-400K out of it at least. Really want to build a 1972 Chevrolet 3/4 Ton w/a 12 valve. That is my dream truck.

Thanks Rusty. I posted the numbers for a Deutz and didn't state the same. I could not remember the Cat numbers. I actually more curious on the diesel engine Cat is producing that meets the new emission standards without a cooled EGR system.



The high phosphourous content also doesn't blend well with the combustion by-products in the crankcase. Gas fired engines tend to really cook the oil. It stays clean as a whistle, but the viscosity index can double if you don't watch it.

Delo and the other oils with moderate phosphorous content should be fine with running LP fumigation.

Some brands have very high phosporous content though. I don't know the results with LP cataylized diesel on those oils.

Actually, the pilot oil consumption numbers I posted were for the Cooper-Bessemer LSVB and Enterprise R-4 power generation engines. These are up-to-10,000 BHP engines used primarily in municipal power plants and cogeneration plants in dual-fuel applications.
