Why doesn't anybody discuss propane? I don't hear a lot of discussion on it, but I do see it occasionally on truck profiles. I have a collegue who installed it on his furd and loves the boost of power. He also said he doesn't have to worry about EGT's like you do with boxes. What's the dealeo?

There's tons of discussion about it on the 2nd and 1st gen engines. I don't think anyone in here with a 3rd gen has it yet.

It's not all that much more expensive to simply install a "magic box" on the newer stuff like the 24 valvers - and experience has shown that head gaskets tend to suffer with propane if you're not careful - especially with the newer trucks. I had it on my '91, it DOES work, but dedicating space for the tank, the need for regular refilling tend to be a downside for some...

I had a propane kit that I took off my power stroke and install on my new 03' Cummins and the difference was not as noticeable as it was on my Ford. Fords have a problem with getting enough fuel. I think that is why propane works better on the power stroke.

TST box is supposedly running about 150HP and 500Lbs of Torque at roughly $850. Propane kits are selling at $1,000+ and you aren't going to get 150HP without a blown hedgasket, and you definatly aren't going to get 500TQ.

You might get some power, and you will get MPG, but, the risk that comes along with it is usually not very justifiable. Propane advances the timing by acting as a catylist, and burning the fuel sooner. This makes cylinder pressures raise up pretty darn high. If you add more fuel, this advances the timing more.

Plenty of Headgaskets have been kissed goodbye by extra fuel + Propane.

Might as well get a KwikSpool turbo, and a TST Box. It'll cost a little more than propena, but power will be more, and it wil always be there as log you have diesel in the tank.

You are right, TST has been on hold for awhile, but not as long as the edge.

Last I heard was teh TST BOX is ready and roarin' to go, but the Production Harness' wasn't working so great, so it was back to some redesigning.

Still Waiting...
