I recently had installed a Viper Model 160XV remote start on my 2005 Dodge 3500 4x4 TD. The unit only waits 15 seconds before cranking. The grid heaters haven't had time to cycle. Is there a wait to start wire or someplace else where the remote start should have been hooked to ? I would like the wait to start light to go out before cranking. Also the turbo timer shuts down the engine 1 minute after activated. what is the ideal shutdown time ? I travel the xpwys towing a 39' toy hauler. Would waiting until the egr temp goes below 350 be okay ? Also I would like to utilize the Pacbrake for warm ups but it only works when the key is in the on position. Where can I power the Pac so it works together with the remote start ? Thanks for your help.

you should be able to wire the remote starter so that it is triggered by the wait to start light. I don't have one, but from asking around, I'm told that is how they are wired.

I have a different brand,clifford-Matrix something or other. . I can program mine to do all kinds of stuff. . wait to start times, cool down times, running while out of the truck times, auto start/temp drops.....

Thumb through your owners manual and see if yours has some of these options. . Mine is really easy to re-program/adjust times on. .

I installed mine and in the owners book they dont recommend using the wait to start light. . I called the local alarm shop and they told me the same thing "use the timer to start" kid told me the wait to start light can/does cause issue's sometimes...

Anyway hope this helps.

I don't know what year truck you have but the 3rd gens don't have a "wait to start" wire that can tapped into. The gauge cluster is "Data" controlled and a timer must be used. You can solder it to the gauge cluster circuit board, however if your not used to doing that chances are you'll burn it. You could try and attach the "glow plug" wire of the remote starter to the grid heater relay. Some starters may not be affected by the fact that they cycle on and off while the truck is running, others may shut it down. (no harm in trying though)

As far as the turbo timer, all the ones I've done continue to run based on the amount of times your press the button. (press it once of 1 min, twice for 2 minutes... . ) On mine and most others, unless your really running it hard 1 min is sufficient.

The pac brake could be activated by the starter using one of the aux. "ground when running" outputs (most have them) and a relay.

i installed alarms about six years ago and yes the dodges have a data cable set up in the dash but you can use the grid heater rely trigger wire. . "smaller wires" may sure you have the correct in put to the alram system ,,you may have to use a rely to change it from a positive to a negitive trigger or so on and run a diode so it does not feed back and lets current go only one way ,,,, or you may have to just use a pulse timer rely or turn yours up for a longer wait
