Well, if you have any police friends that she doesn't know. I know of something that will work... . :-laf

Have your friendly police officer bust you for speeding/traffic violation. Have the cop trump up some type of charge to have you both arrested and in the back seat of the car. (drug bust would be even better). As you both are in the back seat of the police cruiser... ... discussing whose drugs they are..... ask her to marry you then. You have to find out if she is going to stick with you thru thick and thin, now is a good time to find out.

ALthough this is just a short version, as you could come up with many variables of your own. Makes for an interesting story and unforgettable memory when the dust settles... . :-laf :-laf

After getting your leg over (old Irish expression) for two years, why bother getting married? That could be the cause of the end of a very fruitful (even if sterile) relationship? Still much better than saying,"***** get your shoes on we are getting married!"

ok i think i have it down now. this is how its gonna happen. we are going to have a nice dinner then after dinner im going to have the waitress bring out the empty ring box on a empty plate. the when she looks at me and opens it i will go down on one knee and pull the ring out of my pocket. what do you guys (gals) think.

Last year after leaving the country for business for a week I realized how much I missed her so I wrote her a 10 page letter predicting our future together. I just had to do it because I couldn't sleep in the airport hotel with everything going through my head.

Then 8 months later I went to Chile for a week and then wrote another letter from our regional office in Santiago. When I asked the receptionist for a company envelope, she asked why, and I replied that I write to my girlfriend from wherever I visit as it is kind of old-fashioned and nobody writes letters anymore - it's a lost art so-to-speak. So the secretary goes, "just wait a minute" (in Spanish) and then comes back with a few other exotically hot Chilean office ladies that were very excited and animated and they were all gushing about how they wished their boyfriends or husbands would do that.

Anyways... my girlfriend keeps all the letters and it is pretty neat seeing the stack of them all bundled up with all the different stamps on them. It is pretty cool seeing the look on her face whenever she sees them too.

It took a while to gather the fortitude to buy the ring. That was the go/no go point for me. I finally proposed to her during a walk in the local park his past April and we're getting married on August 19 (9 days!!! ).

Oh yeah... I made a conscious decision to buy the twins, modded CP3, and DD clutch in the past 3 months. :-laf :D

Good Luck and Best Wishes to you !

Robert,

Before you propose in any manner, use some diesel fuel as if it were cologne. If she still says yes, you know you have a keeper, that won't be too upset with you playing with your truck, which will soon become her truck. So you will then need to go buy a new truck so she can then take the new truck, and let you have your old truck back.

did that make sense?

Good luck!!

Congrats Robert. Takes alot to make a marriage work especially at your age.

Make sure you wait a while before you have kids so you guys can have some fun.

thank you, i dont plan on having any kids at all. i have never really been a child person. she knows that also. but we have agreed on if we both feel the time is right we may have a kid one day in the future.

about the age thing if you were to meet caroline and i you would probably say that we are older than we really are. nobody after meeting me believes me when i tell them im only 23.

As my brother has said for years "Any man contemplating marriage should first find a woman you can't stand to be in the same room with and buy her a house---just so he knows what it feels like" :D :D

Robert, Congrats on the proposal man! I wish you MANY happy years together! I proposed to my wife after dating long distance for only 8 monthes. She lived by St Loius and I am in northeast Iowa so we only seen each other about once a month but we emailed and talked on the phone for hours each day. Every year I go to visit family in Germany for 2 weeks so I asked her to join me and she accepted. While we were there I realized fast how deep she cared for me and decided to ask her to marry me. I bought her a translation book and she was trying hard to follow my conversations with my family and friends there and quickly looking up general speach words as I spoke them. On our last weekend there I took her to Marburg and we went to tour a church ( www.Elisabethkirche.de ) and while in there, we had my grandfather and grandmother with us, I was talking German to them and she was sitting in a pew following my speach in her book. I had bought a ring in Germany when I went shopping with my cousin. Anyways I decided this was the place and my grandparents knew my plans so I talked real slow and asked her to marry me in German and by the time she finished looking up what I said I was down on one knee by the pew with the ring in my hand. She cried for a long time and I could only get a nod of acceptance out of her. As we held each other my grandfather spoke up loudly and explained to everyone touring the church what I had just done. It is a memory I will take to my grave with me. On our flight home she confessed to me that she would have most likely declined for the time being if I hadnt done it so perfectly since we had only dated 8 monthes and hadnt even slept together yet before I asked the question. A week after coming home to the states I went to St Loius and moved her back to Iowa and our third anniversary would have been on March 29th. She always told me that when I got too wrapped up in my work that she still knew I loved her by the way I looked at her because deep inside me she knew I was a true romantic.
