I'm also coming upon this dilema. I can get a set of 370's for a very reasonable price. The problem is when i dyno'd with the mods in my sig, i burried my pyro (15 or 1600) With the 370's i have planned on sliding the plate back, but i know for a fact i will want a bigger housing.

What should i look for?? What came stock on my truck??

Thanks Guys

Curtis

Curtis,

If you hit 1500-1600 degrees on the dyno and your only fueling mod is the #10 something doesn't add up correctly.

Was your truck always and auto or did it start it's life out as a stick?

what washers do you guys use under the injectors for best economy? 10 thous ive heard is good. also like curtis said, would a hybrid 40 (60mm compressor and a 16 ex) cool it for moderate pulling and daily driving? i know the right foot denotes a lot but i am just looking for a performance bump without losing my milage (20. 98) i would end up with a #5 3k and 370's if this all works out right. and a hybrid turbo with a 60mm wheel.

I have the stock 180 pump, no timing (at the time of dyno) and #10 full forward. Always has been an auto. On the road at full tilt, smoke clears right up, 40lbs of boost, and no more than 1250 to 1300 egt. That's why couldn't understand why i got soo hot on the rollers.

I need to check into a bigger ex housing probably.

Thanks

Curtis

Normal EGTs cruising @ 75 mph are b/w 750-900* (depending upon wind direction here lately) with my mods. Towing they stay pretty close to 900* but can jump upto 1200-1300* pretty fast on even a mid-sized hill. Empty I have never seen it climb over 1000* w/ the cruise on. This is all with a stock HX35.

Some guys like them, but 300's are a crappy injector IMO. I'm not a huge fan of 370's either but they are a much better injector than the 300's.

I tried a set of 300s for awhile and thought they were pretty decent. I was basically stock, stock plate a bit forward. Down low they were a bit more power than stock injectors, more smoke for sure, but after the boost came up there was very minimal haze at WOT.

What I liked about them is they came alive at higher RPM and boost. Truck really pulled between 2400-3000 RPM. I then swapped to BD Power 40hp injectors which gave me noticeably more power and less smoke in daily driving, but take them to the upper eschelons and they fall flat on their face. The BDs smoked a lot for a stock plate, less power and higher EGTs than the 300s once RPM and boost builds.

Once the truck was warm the 300s idled clean and didn't smell much. They only have 4 holes.

my 370's haze and it very aggravating i dont mind them smoking alot but the hazing at idle bothers me. overall i like them b/c of $$ and power

my 370's only haze when cold. . towed fiver to the coast this last weekend for the first time (abalone season Oo. ) since the injectors and the 14 cm2 housing and all I can say is :-laf Had to use a little right foot control once or twice but still was passing maxipads and powerjokes. . the low end of the 370's just kicked but on the low end with the RV... :D

Heh, heh, the big storm of 04-05! Mine smoked pretty bad during that time too, Forrest. I think a lot of what I was seeing was due to the humidity in the air. After all the snow melted and it dried out, cold mornings don't produce as much smoke. One thing I notice is that the smoke clears up much quicker than a gasser when cold. More steam from a gasser?

I can hit 1800* with a #11 plate and 21 cm2 housing with stock 215 injectors.

Jeez, I have a #11 full foward, with the 12Cm housing and I can barely get to 1050* (post turbo) and thats at 105mph accelerating hard from a dead stop. I cant even get past 900 with 15,000lbs behind it, unless maybe I was trying to kill it and tried pulling at 1,000rpm or something.

pwerwagn ... I had the same setup as yours & EGT readings. I'm @ 5k' elevation. I moved the probe pre-turbo & that equated to 1500 degrees. :{

I think it was at about 32psi. The stock 35 @ that psi is some horrendus backpressure ... like 70 or so ... really restrictive above 30psi.

as said before the 370's dont atomize and spray fuel they dump it :) they dont haze in the summer time.

So what are some injectors that are equivalent to 370s that atomize better producing the more efficient burn, less haze and possibly better mileage? Are there any 370s out there that are drilled differently that produce a better atomization like the PDR370s or are they all the same?

I'm with Big Poppa and the others looking for something other than 370's for my P pumped mill. I dont particularly want the hazing at idle and delivery valve problems commonly associated with these injectors. I know EDM'd nozzles are available for the 24 valve motors. Are there any available for us? I have checked out the F1 website but it doesnt seem that injectors for our 12 valves are being produced. I'm more interested in power on demand along with economy and am perfectly willing to control it with my right foot. I'm just not too fond of using an injector that wasn't designed for my engine in the first place. This design (12 v) has been around for some time now and seems to to be the engine of choice for most in the power game. When searching the forums and advertisments in general they are none too descript in nozzle angle, spray pattern etc. Most publish numbers above stock horsepower--rather vague. Is there something along the line of the Edge/Jammer nozzles that are available for the 24 valve motors. There has to be something better. Any vendors, distributors, jaded professionals want to chime in ;) ?

When I spoke to Scott at Mass Diesel about power enhancements he recommended a B-1 with custom EDM's. So I'm sure they're available. Give him a call 1-800-477-6127.

I may go that route myself, once funds are available.

Mine did. Mine hazed in the summer when the truck was warm. The summertime haze was nothing like the pic Forrest posted :) but the winter haze when cold was similar.

mine haze all the time... hot dallas summer, cold colorado winter...

obviously the colder the engine temp and outside temp, the more they haze, but it's constant.

smells yummy
