I want to add a little shine to the door handles and did not know how well the Putco door handle covers looked. I see where you can buy chrome door handle replacements, but of course are more expensive and more labor involved.

I may regret the additional work invloved, but I'm swapping my stainless covers for the 'real thing' as soon as the UPS man arrives. The covers feel like..... well, 'covers', they fit as well as could be expected for a cover but it just doesn't feel quite right to me. Mine were installed by the dealer and the driver side came off after a month or so. The second one has lasted two years. I recently noticed that the passengers side is feeling like it might decide to come off as well.

I had to remove my door handles to straighten out the sheet metal after someone (probably kids) tried to "punch" my doors.

Taking them off and putting them back on was a real piece of cake. You can easily do each door in 20 minutes.

BTW: While you're doing that would be a good time to install some Jimmi Jammers.

Ah yes. I have the Jimmi Jammers on the work bench already. I'm waiting for the new handles, only wanted to do the job once. And while I'm at it, I'm going to add some additional sound deadening to the inside door skin and the inside door panel. How's that for doing it right, doing it once!??

As for the 'where did I order from' question. I found an ad for polished billet handles on EBay, but I can't make a good recommendation of the supplier yet, as they've been on backorder for over a month, even when their site said they were in stock.

I tried out the putco covers on my 03, so far I like them they went on pretty easily and have held up good so far about 6 months now, of course they don't feel like a regular chrome door handle, but a fraction of the cost. The only thing I don't like is sometimes when yo grab the handle you catch the edge of the cover with your fingers , the edge reminds you that they are just covers!

A friend bought a 2006 RAM with chromy door handle trim. The key wouldn't go in all the way so don't lose that remote.
