Just curious what the drawbacks of bombing (ca. ) 94-96 12v's are ? Is the pump a drawback ? What should I know about the Ca. egr on the diesel ? Will the egr prevent extensive bombing,if so is there a way around it ? What are the HP ratings of the egr equiped 12v's in Ca ?

No EGR until Jan 1, '96. If you have an EGR on the truck a non-CA or '95 air intake will fit. I think you have to do something with the electrical connection or the EGR truck will show a CEL if the air intake is replaced. Best to get a '94 or '95 and not have to mess with it.

part #3931516 for non egr intake horse power is 180 hp yes you can work around . put your intake on and dis connect vacumn lines that went to egr.

I don't know what the maximum power that has be achieved with the 160 pump. I do know that it is well over 300. I think I'm making that much with a #5 TST plate pushed forward about 1/3 of the way forward plus 370 injectors.

With my '94 stock pumped truck I got 275 hp/640ft/lbs at the rear wheels with the following:

TST #5 (1st mod, didn't make much difference with the stock T/C)

14 cm exhaust housing (No difference but lower EGT"S)

Goerend Brothers T/C (Huge difference)

215 injectors (Huge Difference)

3000, RPM kit (Big difference)

181 Delivery valves (Noticable difference in power and much smoother)

The 215 injectors and 181 delivery valves I got from a member who has access to used take off parts. You might try a vendor or two to get the take offs, much cheaper and worked fine.

I could have got more power with a #4 plate and I did have one but opted for a 180 hp pump that is turned up.

Oh yeah, it got over 17 miles per gallon, started without my foot on the throttle in the summer and the dyno run was on a complete stock exhaust system.

'94's built before January 1st don't have catalytic converters either.

Most cali trucks cpl is 1863 180 hp/420trq. You can get over 500hp with a 180 pump, see sig. The check engine light will not come if egr is disconneted {on 96 only}. If you have a 97 it will come on. Happy bombing:D
