hi fellas... .

i've been thinking once again about adding a short shifter kit from Geno's,anybody have experience with this mod???... ... . good or bad... . just trying to do the research before making a decision !!!. thanks... ... ... . tom ;)

If your NV5600 is anything like mine or most others, they can be a bit notchy between shifts. A short shifter would magnify this problem of grinding syncros.

I went with Whiplash shifter and what an improvement. With the stock shifter I found I had to lift my back off the seat to shift into 3rd and 5th gears. Not anymore with the new stick

It's a mod you don't need. As stated, it does not improve shift quality. It only shortens the throw by reducing your leverage. Some people have had leakage problems with the seal of the shift tower. Mine works fine, no reason to take it off, but I wouldn't do it again.

didn't work!!!!

Put in on my 01' and like others said, it wouldn't go into gear very well and the shift was harder. Finally took the dam thing off... Wasn't worth the money in my opinion.

Yes mine leaked and I thought it was a warranty issue as I just had my 5th gear replaced. Ended up costing me a couple of hundred on something I could have done myself. I am in line for a SRT10 shifter from Tomey Gun and when I get it I will remove mine.

I installed the Geno's short shift kit on my '00 3500 2wd and I really like it. It shortened the throws up nicely and was about a forty five minute job from start to finish.

I've never ground a syncro that I know of.

Mine doesn't leak I don't think. I've never seen an oil spot under the truck where its been parked.

I've had it for three years and I think its a nice addition. It beats rowing the shifter through its full arc in traffic.

I have one both my trucks a NV4500 and NV5600, and love them both. The NV5600 also has REDLINE MTL in it and that help with the notchy shifts.

ditto, sent it back.

I've had the Short Shifter in my 03 for over 200K mi. , no problems, wouldn't think of removing it.

Does the SS'er come with the plastic bushing?

P. S. Todd F, if you put a set of twins, and a Comp box you can get 500+hp. . :)

I've had mine on my '02 for 75K miles and love it. Short shifter lets me have CB mounted on dash in covey hole. No leaks, smooth easy shifts. It won't cure shifting problems and possibly amplifies them, but works well on a healthy transmission, IMHO.

Thanks SOO MUCH!

Mine is broken, and this would be the only reason I would buy it.

The only people I have heard complain about the SS kits are 6sp owners, it will amplify a notchy shift. Its not a mod to improve your shifting, it just shortens the throw.

No problem with mine.
