I think i've read every post here. I'm going to install EGT, Boost, & transmission sometime in the future. Seems like the A-Pillar gauges may not be as easy to see as they overlap one another. The windshield mount takes your eyes off of the road (although you do anyway when looking rearward), the cubby hole mount takes your eyes off of the road as well. The Steering column mount limits you to two pods ( could get 3 gauges with one being a dual gauge) and limits your view of the instrument cluster. Seems like the best location (hate to say best because everyone has their own preferences) is the dash. The dash may also be the easiest install although maybe not because the lack of posts on it. Eagerly waiting your opines.

So far after reading posts the 2 things that concerne me most are

1. Fuel Filter 2 micron issues with HPCR

2. MPG

Thanks

I just installed the Edge Juice with Attitude monitior with the A-Pillar mount. The Monitor sits about 1/4" above the dash, easy to read gauges, doesn't block the view. I love it! The X-monitor is another option, 3 in 1 easy read digital display. I like the idea of one unit to have all your guage readings in, but that is just me.

I would like to know more on the 2 micron filter issue as well.

Check out my gallery. I've only got one pic of the dash, but it'll give ya an idea. The dash is the ONLY location that doesn't make you turn your head or take your eyes off the road. It looks great and is practical. I had a pillar mount in my '01 and that was OK, but dash is better. Install isn't easy, but not impossible either, kinda tough routing wires if you don't pull the whole dash off. For analog gauges, dash is great. I also have the Juice w/atitude and the monitor is currently floating around looking for a home. Can't decide on a place to put it. I'll probably end up sticking it to the pillar just for ease of access. X-monitor would be nice as well.

My opinion--pillar mount. You can't look at any of them without taking your eyes off the road, and all the others just look hokey to me. This opinion is worth exactly what it cost you. Charlie.

I put one gauge on a SRT-10 pillar mount, and two on the stearing column.

However, if I had it all to do over.

I would move the heater/AC controls down to where the cubby hole now is, and mount the gauges right below the radio

I like the dash mount - real close to normal driving line of sight. Autometer 3 gauge pod has a fairly unobtrusive appearance. Dash is fairly easy to remove and routes for wires are obvious around the defroster openings in the metal sub-dash.

RRoton,

that looks tricked.

Where did you get the pic and how hard would it be to move the controlls?

That is an actual picture a guy posted on anothes site.

He explained in detail how he did it. I believe he had to make the cubby hole opening a little begger.

EGTs are important to me and I like the EGT in the single A-pillar location. It puts the gauge "in your face" and reminds me to pay attention to it. Sometimes I get surprised at how hard the CTD is working on longer grades. The EZ makes it appear so effortless but in reality the motor is making a lot of power.

If I do add other gauges, they will not be on the A-pillar. I like the grab handle too much and that the single mount does not block forward vision.

EGT information "in your face" is a good thing.

I have EGT gauge in a SRT10 pillar and oil temp, trans temp, and boost in the cubby. My cubby mount is a Quadzilla, I got it before the Autometer mount was available. EGT will change the fastest and the SRT10 pillar does not block your view by enlarging the pillar and you still get to keep the grab handle, plus it is a factory part so fit and finish are perfect. Easy to read and see without really taking your eyes of the road. Oil and trans temp do not change that rapidly so an ocasional glance is all you need, especially once you know where the normal positions of the needles are. Boost is fun to watch ocasionally and may help to indicate a problem such as clogged air or fuel filter if max number starts to go down, otherwise not very important to check frequently.

How about this:

They have them in 2, 3 or 4 pod. I think I will do a 3 pod and use SPA dual gauges for 6 total.

Soon to have the overhead pod. I finished up wiring the gauges tonight and will install them tomorrow.

EGT is in the SRT style A pillar

About 45K of the miles I put on my '96 were with a 3-gauge pillar mount. I have just over 13K on the 04. 5 with the 3-gauge dash mount. (I chose dash mount on the new rig because I didn't want to loose the hand-hold, which as it turns out I have never used!)

My personal favorite for convenience and usability is the pillar mount. The gauges are actually closer to they eye so you can get a quicker (mental) read. I never had any problems keeping some focus on the road with the pillar either. With the dash mount I find i have to spend more time going from one gauge to the next as I scan them. During that time I actually don't seem to have a good of a perception of the road. My analysis of this is that our eyes are slit horizontally, not vertically, and therefore we have more difficulty perceiving things above or below our focus as opposed to either side.

Sure not going to do the mount over again though. Also, I run Boost, Pyro, and pre-turbo exhaust pressure. Amazing to see 52PSI when the PacBrake kicks in!

i am definatley going to do the srt-10 mount for the pyro. i want to do the dash pod, but i can't find a company that makes all 3 guages i need in the white face. i want oil pressure, boost and fuel pressure. i like isspro, but they don't have a fuel pressure, i also like autometer, but there boost guage only go's up to like 30 or 35. i refuse to use the westach dual guage in the pillar, because i think it would be to busy. any suggesttions would be appreciated. also i won't do the cubby hole mount because i use it alot for cell phone and wallet.

For just the ones you mentioned I would do a dual pod windshield mount using a SPA DG215WB that will give you Oil Pressure & Fuel Pressure and a DG211WB that will give you Boost & EGT.

The white face SPA's are certainly not a true match to the factory stuff but they are off in another location anyway. The user selectable led warning along with high number recall really make the gauge plus they are extremely accurate.

I have DiPricol EGT, boost, and fuel pressure. The boost and fuel pressure gauges look the same and light up the same so I put them together in a dual steering column mount. EGT looks a little different so it's in a single A-pillar mount by itself.

I used to have the EGT in the column mount (before I had the fuel pressure gauge) and I think it might have been quicker to read it there. However, unless you're going fairly straight the steering wheel blocks it so if you're trying to read it on a winding mountain road you have to wait until you're out of a turn. The A-pillar is the better choice of these two locations.

I like the look of the cubby mount but I'd never be able to safely read my gauges there. I don't like the three-gauge A-pillar mount because the A-pillar is already a huge blind spot. I'm not a big fan of the dash pod look but I'd think it would be the best place for seeing the gauges.

JasonH, Nice setup.

I like the idea of the EGT in the SRT10 A-Pillar. It just makes sense for the reasons listed by LesStallings. The overhead mount takes up the least amount of usable space and coupled with the SR10 mount gives you 4 gauges. Any gotcha's on installing the overhead mount? I'am assuming you just follow the overhead trip console wiring harness. Thanks for all the posts.

Thanks.

FYI... The overhead pod is also available for four gauges just in case you would like a total of five. :)
