I've read a lot in the forums on good tool boxes and it seems the ProTech gets quite the reviews. Although I've called ProTech and requested dimension information, I get their catalog - but no dimensions. I know what size cross body boxes will fit my shorty, but I want to know specifically how much of the box is above the rails, how far down into the bed it goes and the width (I guess they call it "length") of the part inside the rails.

Does anyone have the measurements they could share?

BTW, I've been quoted $565 for the standard depth and $605 for the deep. It doesn't matter whether one lid or two, smooth finish or diamond plate. Price OK? After looking at Weatherguard for $499, that doesn't seem too bad.

I just went out and measured mine. It is a standard full lid box that sits on the bed rails. I paid about $450 on sale at a local farm supply store. Picture of it here:

The dimensions are going to be a little tough to describe but I'll try.

Lid width=67"

Overall width (the part above the bedrails tapers in)=70"

Height above bedrails=7. 5"

Drop below bedrails=8. 5"

Bottom section width (inside bed)=61"

Depth (front to back)=20"

Hope this helps. BTW, interesting fact. The bedrails on a third gen are narrower at the back than the front so if you measure back there you may be let to believe it won't fit. ;)

Mine is old here are the dimensions:

12 inches from the bed to the bottom of the box.

16 inches from the bottom of the box to the top the box

8 inches above and below the bed rail

62 inches wide inside of the bed

69 3/4 inches wide at the height of the bed rail

remember mine is old, now that the trucks are bigger the boxes can be bigger.

Call Pro-tech they should be able to tell you over the phone, and if you want any of the dimensions changed Pro-tech will do that.
