Protecting mirror plastic

Does anyone have any idea how to protect the mirrors from getting scratches on them? My new '06 has a few dime-size scratches from someone (not me) hitting a brick pillar going through a bank drive-thru lane. It is not very noticeable but still... Maybe some type of black vinyl like a clear-bra but black. It can't be sanded due to the molded-black texture.

I've get the same type damage, but I did it myself at my bank drive in. Would like to blame my wife but she doesn't driver the truck. :-laf
