I have waited long enough to join since I acquired my 1990 W250. I talked my father-in-law into buying the Cummins/Dodge when they first began to come out not knowing I would become the owner 11 years later (I know 1989 was the first year). He was going to trade it in on a 1/2 ton Dodge 4x4 - dealership offered him $1500 - told him I could do better than that and ended up with the truck. Some of the items he had added: custom made heavy duty front bumper , warn winch, truck cap, air shocks in the rear - everything he put on was heavy duty. I recently had the Getrag rebuilt (Barton's Trans. , Mabank, TX. Parts from Std. Trans. , Ft. Worth- great job/reasonable $) and new paint job. Updates to come include the Borgensen steering shaft - just need time to install and a little AC work. I could elaborate on the ability of this truck but it really would be long post - my hunting buddy calls it the Beast!

I have enjoyed this forum for truck repairs/improvements and figured it was time to pay up. I now own three Dodge trucks: 1990 W250, 1998 1/2 ton 5. 2L Quad, 2002 1/2 Crew Cab 4. 7 - and cannot say bad about any of them.

Chuck, welcome, you will definately get your 35 bucks back from all the knowledge and help from this site. BTW what lube did the trans rebuilder put into your getrag after rebuild? Did they overfill by one quart? We have been running 5w30 synthetic engine oil overfilled by 1-1. 5 qts. Later Bill

Wow! Two new guys in one day! First we have the TDR front page this many times, and now this!

TXGreen-

And the dealer probably would have put a $6K price tag on it. It's stupid what dealers offer people for their older diesels. Welcome to the TDR, good luck in your BOMBing (yes, it bites EVERYONE here- some just harder than others- just ask CB Parker:D), and have fun outdoing the V8s.

Daniel

Sorry for not replying sooner - have been out of town. The rebuilder filled with 30w (still going to add the 1 qt. overfill) - I contacted Std Transmission to verify this was correct and that is what they recommended also. I have a 1yr/20,000 warranty with the rebuild so time will tell.
