Let me first say I use my truck for my business, and when its down, I make no money. Luckily my son has a 96 12v, which runs pretty well (for a backup)

Well, last thursday morning, I noticed some red spots on the driveway from the drivers side area. I had a leak on the high pressure hose from the PS pump to the brake booster. Tried a temp patch, didnt help any. I dont typically do fixes by warranty, but I didnt really have a hose on hand. (though this was the first failure, other than the slow deterioration of the door seals)

So I take it back to my original dealer, who, only 1 1/2 yrs later, has changed names already (sigh).

They diag the problem, and order the part. Half of Thurs, and Friday is gone (no truck, no work), it might be done Sat. if the part comes in. Late Sat they call me, part came in, but its the wrong one..... They say possibly Monday if the correct part comes in this time.

I call 0800 Monday, part isnt in yet. 1100 I get a call, part is in, looks to be the right one. Truck is done by 1630. I pick it up, and find they sprayed PS fluid all over my drivers fender!! wtf! Also the whole area around the PS pump was soaked with fluid, at least a 12" radius.

They had the truck for 4. 5 days of my time, and wouldnt even wash it. The PS spray on the fender really ticked me. My son went to a transmission shop here in the city, and every time they have it, even when they had it for a day road test, they washed it. I guess too much to expect... i dont know. .

well, just had to vent. .

The hose that failed was the one with the weight for the vibration. Just an FYI for other guys. The truck has 45k on it (only bought 2/05 hah!)

The same hose failed on my 04. 5, at 25k, dealer ordered the hose and called when it came in,

it only took them about 20 min to change and get my truck back on the road.

Wow, I have 85k on mine... not a leak so far... where did it start leaking?? Near a fitting or the hose itself?

It leaked from the hose itself, about 6" down from the weight. Pinhole in the side, which could have been an easy catastrophe...

I wont be back to that dealer in a good long time. . Wright Dodge in Wexford, if any PGH people are interested. .

Now I know where to keep an eye on it.
