AmsoilMan ... a question please

Somebody actually found a use for the HY-35/9!!!

I talked to a guy at work today with a new Excursion and the 6L PSD. He had that Quadzilla box along with a 4" exhuast and said it goes pretty good. (he liked the fact that he could squeal the tires). He said the box added 100hp/185tq and he had the new Twin Turbo 32v 6L PSD.

Either way though... it was nice to talk to a diesel guy as I can never seem to run across them.

Yea I knew it was BS but I was on the clock so I couldn't eaxctly disagree with a customer and tell him otherwise.

Punch out and tell him like it is :p

Seriously though I was at Bullydog when they were messing around with a 6 liter and it was quite fast. Sounded pretty mean too with 4" (or was it 5"?) exhaust. But it was running pretty rough part of the time, clattering, missing, hiccuping, etc. but when it was running good it was very fast.

I feel pretty safe in a mildly bombed CTD.

I have the feeling that a 6. Oh-my-God-the-dealer-lied-to-me would pretty much be a grenade at HP levels the CTD can run all day at.

It's worth noting that the 6. 0 is MUCH more apt for high-performance. The CTD was designed from the beginning as a low-revving torque motor for towing and work. The 6. Oh-no was designed to have some pep-- short stroke, high revs, lightweight internals.

The day a 6. 0 can take my mild truck in a top-gear roll-on, I fully expect to see a quickly burning fuze on his tailgate...

You've got injectors, what till they get some. With just a box, there have been a few to hit the 13's.

Yeah, when I drove one off the lot, it seemed like it would have some potential. It feels like a low-revving gasser. It revs real fast, and the transmission is VERy nice.

But I was underwhelmed at the overall rate of scoot. Salesman was gabbing like "it wil really push you back in the seat", but he had to point out the "push" to me on the drive-- I didn't notice it. Maybe it was the Denver altitude, MY truck didn't seem to have the same issue though.

As for the CR engine-- I think it is even stronger than the 1st gen ETHs. The bottom end is still crazy on the beef, but has better oiling.

There's a good chance I may someday drive a PSD that impresses me. I just haven't seen it yet. As for THEM getting injectors, I hope to have the MACH 4 remedy installed by then:) I think they will match nicely to a KSB1-B.

BTW-- one of my airman just got back from a deployment, and plunked down for a new PSD Ford. It's a beaty. . 6. 0, TS auto, Superlift kit and 35s. He spent all his life savings on that truck.

It's been in the shop 3 weeks. They want to buy it back, but he would lose all the $$ he put into the lift and everything. Poor kid. Part of me want to recruit him for the CTD camp, but I don't have the heart to capitalize on his misery.
