Mopar oil

Had the oil changed in my '03 yesterday and saw that in their parts dept.

they had stacked on the floor in cases, MOPAR diesel engine oil CI and

in different stack they had MOPAR 6700 CJ oil for '07 and later

diesels. They told me that they only put the 6700 CJ oil in '07s or later

vehicles and the regular CI oil in the older model vehicles.

I found this interesting and surprising, would like to know for sure who

bottles this for MOPAR.



This was Westside Dodge in Jacksonville, Fl.

$78. 00 for oil change and lube.

TBN determines how effective the control of acids formed will be during the combustion process. The higher the TBN, the more effective it is in suspending wear-causing contaminants and reducing the corrosive effects of acids over an extended period of time

However, they also said

Higher sulfur fuel will decrease the TBN faster due to the increased formation of sulfuric acid.

Ok so with ULSD perhaps we don't need the higher TBN's. But isnt there also lower detergent levels?

Even after all those articles I am still confused and uncertain whether to run CI or CJ in my 5. 9L ('07)

Will we ever get a definite?

You need to run the CJ-4---- 02 to 06 needs to run the CI-4+ Go to valvoline web and look it up They changed to oil in 07 for the 07 up. I run the PBC in my 03---Good luck

I see the EPA is the source of the pie charts etc.



That and they are touting the clean environment movement and clean diesel. Meanwhile... we'd like you to look at the Cummins dragster at the end of the document sitting on the line belching out tons of black smoke!! Not that I mind. But you'd think Cummins would develop a dragster that at least appeared to burn clean.
