It funny to call the Scotty 2 over priced. For the EGT reduction it delivers compared to 4" exhaust systems it's way under priced. THe Scotty 2 will lower EGTs 2-3 time as much as 4" exhast does!!!! And it's doesn't even cost 1/2 as much. The Scotty Air 2 lower my EGTs as much as the Piers Super HX-40.

Granted my truck is almost extreem in the 400+ HP range. But w/o the Scotty 2 I could use this HP!!!!!!!

ya don't buy HP upgrades and then choke the liv'in sh-- out of them and expect them to work do ya... . then why complain about gett'in air into the air tract via an upgrade there... I don't get it. . ya want power and want it to work but ya complain about everything that ya have to do to make it work... AIR + FUEL = HP no other way to get there guys it's simple as 1 2 3

am I missing something here ? :-{}

If you dont cut the hole in the cowl, and it only breaths thru the factory hole, how is it any better that a stock airbox. Seems like just running a K&N or AFE in the stock box would be about the same. What I missing?

In last TDR magazine is article from Joe Donnelly about testing different set up. He find out closed air box even without filter in , do have same power like with filter in. Look like box himself have big restriction. And if you add sealing problem, maybe scotty II is good alternative, if noise ( without cut the hole in cowl) could be keep down.

All, I am like EMDDIESEL, I installed the Scotty I and keep asking myself is this all I get for that much money??? I hope these guys hear us--they are supposed to start dropping prices, when eng and tooling are paid for, but have not seen that yet... ... maybe all you guys should not buy for 2-3 months--let see if they can eat them?!? Don't suppose that will happen and they will continue to over charge!!! R, J. B.

lets see if I can put this another way... . ya go to Vegas and decide to eat at a Buffet

we'll there are a lot of choices out there. . you can go to the $6. 99 one and get crap food and service and pisss and moan about your food and service or ya can go to the $15. 99 one and get very nice food and enjoy your meal. . both require time and effort to put on , but one has more time and effort to keep good food and a clean place. . nothing in life is free guys... if you want the $6. 99 stuff go a head but quit complaning about the $15. 99 stuff. . some of us are willing to buy the good stuff !!

Scotty has tried to fix the issues of those that got bad units [and he admits some got out, as he didn't inspect every unit [you have to trust your mfg. in the process] ... but it still takes time and effort to produce and warehouse, ship , package, finance production, pay your distributors and still have a profit ect ect. in short run a business. . if you can do it cheeper go a head

If ya don't like the price go to the cheeper meal

BY THE WAY... I have the new Scotty II and it is a much improved unit over the Scotty I [which I also have]. . fit and finish was taken back to his control V/S a mfg. who didn't have his desire for quality.

willyslover, did you cut hole in cowl ? How noise is this set up ? Did scotty manufacturer have web site or did they post test on air flow somewhere ? Thanks

M:cool:

I have the Scotty II and I also have the Scotty I. I did cut the 4. 5" hole in firewall. Would I do it again for the price... you bet ! Quality is back in control and looking/working great!

If Scott comes out with another design would I order one. . take a guess!!!

I like the more expensive meal!!!!!!

Rick

yes to the hole... there is some noise with this unit. . [but I like the noise it makes, you hear the turbo spool] as to the site... don't have it it in my favorite address. . I'll get it for ya and post it here

Maybe if asked nicely, Scott would consider a reduced price to those who ordered the Scotty 1 and are wanting to upgrade. Not a big amount but just enough to say, hey I appreciate your continued business.

Greg

no flame intended here

Did Dodge give you a reduced price because you bought a second unit from them. .

Did the restraunt give you a reduced price because you ate there 1,2,3 times a month. .

Did the government reduce your taxes because you paid last year. .

Did your home lender give you a better interest rate because you bought another home. .

Did you think that the cost involved in business with a new Scotty II unit went down with this new style...

Again guys there isn't anything wrong with the word profit in business... no profit = no business

I've not bought another Dodge and I don't think I'm going to. My truck has given good service and I love the Cummins but a friend of mine has just spend 1,200 dollars on his 96 in the last three or four months. I know mechanical things tear up but this truck has been obsessively cared for and has less than 50K miles on it. 5th gear fell out, fueling soloniod went south, dowel pin had to be tabbed ( should have been covered by Cummins or Dodge), and to top it all off in 99 he wanted to trade this loaded 96 4x4 ext. cab in and they wanted to allow him 13,000 on it with less than 30K miles on it. He told them that it could sit in his shed a few more years and he would have a tow truck pull it to the junk yard since it would be worth nothing. He said " I wouldn't buy another Dodge if they offered a half a million mile and 400 year warranty". Again I like my truck but I don't think I'd go buy a new one.

I've heard of people like Valentine 1 radar detectors giving free upgrades.

Just a thought. No flames intended here. I do believe in making a profit and paying for what you get. I bought a system from Scott and have talked with him on the phone. He is a very nice and helpful guy. I just think Dodge and Cummins should take better care of their customers.

Greg

Valentine does not reporgram for free,,,theres a poopload of fine print and u pay nealry 300 as opposed to 99. 00 for other radars...

so what is your point

My point is: I'm not getting into one of these long debates in a forum that is designed to share truck information. I see threads every now and again with pages of posts and get lost reading them. So I was wrong about Valentine 1. I stand corrected. I apologize for posting what I did about receiving a discount (no one should give one just because I think so) and will stick to my original reason for joining the TDR which is to post when factual info is needed or when I can give someone info on getting a part. This dumb ole country boy isn't smart enough to give mechanical advice and I'm glad there are people in here intelligent enough to do so. No flames intended to Scott's product. I have one and like it. It is truely as Robert D. Raiford says on The John Boy and Billy Show "the United States of the offended" It's getting so you can't even express your opinion any more in this politically correct society.

Greg

I also mean no offense. . I too am posting Factual info and correcting non factual and I fully agree about long blown out of line post...

I however am a retired mgr. of a very large $ volume retail store [120 million a year] and understand what it takes to bring something to market and am trying to "help" others understand that profit must be in business or no business... the market will decide who will be in business by sales or lack of them. . not a few guys posting they think a price is to high ect. ect.

again no offense meant

Hey Gary Thanks for posting the link to Scotts site I have been looking for that. I know it is very important to have good clean cool air and I just haven't found a system that I like. Is the Scotty II bigger in diameter than the Scotty I? This is something I need to address Bad before I go any farther, as if I haven't went to far already.

Blair the Scotty 2 is alot bigger around than the Scotty 1 was and he has a cool cone to go over the top of the filter to smooth out the air flow around it.

Try it you'll like it:D

hey Blair. . when we get around to mounting my 4" Exhust brake you can take a look at it... I got one while in Calgery 2 weeks ago

nice unit !

Hard to figure you guys out complaining about prices, if you don't like it don't buy it. Seems pretty simple to me. It's whining like this that caused Scott to disappear from these forums. Still miss the guy, had some excellent info and some really funny stories to tell.
