I closed off the big end in testing and designing and I got collapsed filters. Theres a lot of air going in there.
With the flow blocked at the large end... you could either get a collapsed filter or a lot less air. Be careful with this approach.

It seems to me that the stock filter gets cold air from the wheel well. What is the advantage of the psycotty air system?
What am I missing here?

The PSA, forgive me Scott if I screw this up, is a similar sort of setup as the stock one. It allows the use of the KN RE-0880, a much better flowing filter, and protects it from INHALING the warmer air from the engine compartment if it were just sitting static. Instead of drawing the air from the inlet from the fenderwell area, it draws is from underneath the windshield area. As you know the KN RE-0880 is a larger filter, so it is the nature of the beast of where to mount and draw air for the PSA.

I actually had mine off today when I was putting in my Cummins chrome accessories. (I know, kind of a waste of cash but I am running out of things to do). I took the sock off and noticed it was a bit quieter inside and was really impressed of the fact that there was nothing really inside the PSA itself. No dust, etc.
