Experience on rattle free towing

fkovalski, apology accepted. Yes, I am very sensitive about Lance and Arctic Fox. I owned a Lance Truck camper for 10 years, which I purchased new, and never had any problems with anything, accept with the Domatic frig. When not in use it was kept under my Trailerport.

My beef is that you base your information on very little and skimpy information by one of two owners, but you don't tell the whole story. No information on how these campers were treated or mis-treated. You just can't make a blanket statement that all Lance and Arctic Fox campers are no good because one or two individual owners had a problem. RV Consumer Group think very highly of these two camper as well as a few other top rated models.

Congratulations Ray, I know you will enjoy your Truck Camper. I can "feel" your excitement for your new adventures you have planned. I too have a similar situation but I solved it by keeping my 36' Fifth wheel for extended stays and purchased a Lance 1181 for trips when I want to keep moving. My wife would like me to part with the truck camper, but I'm unable to let it go just yet. I love the feel of not worrying about towing something behind me, where and how I'm going to refuel and where I'm going to park it for the nite.

You'll love the Arctic Fox, Jrork! Congratulations!

I wouldn't care right now whether it was an Artic Fox or a Lance or whatever. I just want one so we can do some traveling before my kids graduate and leave home! (My dream camper is a Northern Lite Special Edition 10. 2), but they are nigh onto impossible to find used and carry their value too well for my checkbook. They are the only 5 star rated truck camper, btw. Year after year.

Bigfoot campers are/were great, too, but the company died. Mike Ellis and DResslered have them. I want something tough enough to handle unpaved roads and, occassionally, no roads, but I want room and comfort, too. That leaves fiberglass monocoque campers at the very top of the list.

I want to sell our old reliable Chevy Class C Champion MH and get another pickup camper. I miss the versatile mobility and no licensing fees, low maintenence, etc of a truck camper. I also want to get maximum use out of my Cummins Dodge and MUST be able to pull the boat or motocross trailer.

I have a northernlite 10-2000, outstanding camper. Bought it new in 03 and have had no problems with it at all. Looks as good today as the day I brought it home.

Hi Grizzly, you got that right, we dearly love our Host Yellowstone double slide. It is obvious that someone that actually used campers designed it, and the quality is obvious. By far not the cheapest truck camper, but probably the best. We have put quite a lot of miles on ours since we purchased it, and just love it more all the time.

You can't go wrong with that clam shell design, nice camper. Company has a great reputation. Yes, they are pricey, even used. If you use it often, then the price becomes less of a factor. The most expensive campers are the ones parked that are hardly used.

Hi Don, How are you? Your Host certainly is one of the better and about equal to Lance, Bigfoot and Arctic Fox. The best truck camper is still the Northen Lite, which is the only 5 star rated.
