I have a really interesting idea. I wonder what would happen if during a drag rage or sled pull you inject pure Oxygen in the intake. instead of nitrous of propane just dump in a whole bunch of pure O2. I wonder what that would do. you would have to put a whole lot more than nitrous but I wonder. hmmmm i wonder:-laf

probably blow up or split the engine in two, the oxygen will burn everything it touches that is hot, like exhaust valves and turbo. someone i know tried this on a gasser and almost killed himself, melted all the pistons, valves, intake, carb, and started the oil on fire, but it pulled super hard for about 5 secounds.

my advice, dont try it unless you have alot of spare parts and fire extinguishers (spelling?)

yea your egts would go nuclear. liq o2 isnt really possible due to extremely low temps...

you`d prolly have to use medical grade o2 i dunno if welding grade is pure enough to burn like that, i bet if you raised the percentage just one or two numbers to say 21 or 22 percent it couldnt hurt all that much. if you ever had an over-run or a regulator fail though, goodbye engine, it would be a molten redbrick

Have you ever "leaned into" a left hook?

This would trully be a nightmare of biblical proportions. I handle both gaseous and liquid O2 all the time. This is not something you want to get anywhere near a diesel engine without handing your last will and testament and your bank account over to your next of kin first. Specially considering the expensive logistics and protective measures that would be necessary just in handling the O2.

P. S. Welding grade O2 is usually 99. 9% to 99. 99% pure and one out of every 10 cylinders is inspected and tagged. Medical is 99. 9999% pure and each cylinder comes with an inspection tag. Is there really a "real" difference in the gas? No. The only real difference is that the Med O2 cylinders are supposed to be completely evacuated before refilling and oxygen cleaned on an annual basis. Our local cryo plant fills both type cylinders from the same source. The rest is really about the storage cylinders.

As I read through these posts I am laughing my "ssa" off. I don't really intend to do this nor would I, I just had a thought and wanted to know if anybody had any ideas about it. I did, however, mean gas O2, not liquid. I know that O2 would make diesel burn very well but get very hot. Thats pretty cool that one guy tried it and it worked for short time, I would have loved to seen that. . I was just rocking the boat here trying to make waves. Oo.
