Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) No Cruise Control

I recently got transferred to South Texas from California. I pulled our 5th wheel down here so the truck worked hard but not above EGT or RPM limits, just some long grades with a heavy load. Since getting here I notice that in the morning when I fire it up, it lets a puff of blue smoke and it takes a minute of running before I don't see it anymore. It's not a blinding fog, but it is visible and it never did it before the trip. My oil level is fine, but it's hard to notice a quart low when you have almost 12 in the truck. I did notice my antifreeze level was lower in the recovery tank, that could be attributed to pulling the 5th wheel for a week in 100 degree weather. I just changed the oil in it last night and serviced the coolant tank for a good baseline start. Is it Texas diesel versus the regulated California stuff? Does anybody else see this stuff with their truck? My motor is stock with 48 K on the odometer.

Thanks,

Pat

Mine does...

a black puff at start up and I like it that way!:D  Sorry, I know that does not help you with your problem.

I honestly would not worry about it if it is not using any oil. I think you are on the right track with the coolant usage. Mine has always used a little since I boutht it. :p
