Im embarrased to ask this, but.

Ive never actually "eye-balled" the puke bottle on my truck before, so I just took a look to see how oily it was (pretty oily). Anyway, is the bottle supposed to have some kind of a cap on it ? The hose is running right into the bottle, but there is no kind of a cap. The top of the bottle looks like it is threaded, but the hose is just stuck into the top of the bottle. That cant be right, is it ?

The one on my 01 has a cap with a hole that the tube runs through. The cap can be unscrewed to help empiting the bottle. If u can see the threads it sounds like yours does not have a cap on it.

Thanks for the reply. I thought it should have one. The clown that changed my oil must have lost the cap and didnt tell me. Thats why there's the oily residue all around

Not really a big deal with the stock bottle - it's full of holes for venting anyway, so a missing top won't make much difference in operation.

The real fix is to relocate either the hose. or both hose AND bottle to a lower location away from the front of the engine to avoid oil contamination of the engine and radiator fins - which then often leads to overheating problems as dust and dirt collect...
