I have a similar story with my '91 Dodge. A family from CO. was going to the Arabian Horse Show in Scottsdale & while taking a shortcut through a grocery store parking lot, got high centered at an exit. They had one of the largest gooseneck horse trailers I'd ever seen hooked up to a Ford Dually Flatbed pickup. The duals were about 6" off the ground.

Like your experience, a Chevy 1/2 ton, 4X4 hooked up to him & did nothing but bounce on the pavement.

I had never hooked up to a heavy load but, asked if they wanted me to try. Since they had no better alternatives, they said yes. The Chevy guy said to "forget it". I hooked up & pulled him off the driveway fairly easily. Also, as I was hooking up, it started raining which made the road slippery (like your pictures).

I, also, pulled a "wood cutter" that had buried a Chevy dually with sideboards in the bed. He had his truck almost filled & had parked in a bog. The truck just buried itself.

My Chevy buddies that I camp with said that we have just the truck, in camp, to get him out. That was my Dodge. Hooked up & pulled him out, also.

He was really grateful because he would have had to unload all that firewood to get out, & then have to reload once on the road.

Since I've never pulled a semi out, I'm very impressed with your pull. Nice work.

my story is not as cool, the new guy buried the big forklift to the axles on both ends and it's elderly 3-71 solid tires/suspension 2wd/open diff wasn't helping, so i rounded up enough chain to pull from cement but 2wd wasn't getting it, i found the heaviest car the small forklift would lift for some traction and popped it right out of it's foot deep holes (the only thing keeping the back end from going deeper was the weight was sitting on the ground), the data plate lists it's dry weight at 19,600

They are constructing a new building across from my office. One of the semi-trucks loaded with a few prefabricated concrete walls got stuck on the site with the recent snow. I watched him try to get free for about an hour. They even hooked up a half ton chevy and tried to pull him out but the chevy didn't even budge it (It just 4-wheel bunny-hopped for a while). Finally I went over and offered to pull him out. The driver was skeptical (so was I, to be honest) but I gave it a whirl anyway.

Put my truck in 4 low, 1st gear, and walked him right out! My tires slipped a few times but they didn't hop.

Anyway, the driver was thankful, and I got a few good pictures and some bragging rights since the rest of the guys in my office drive Fords!

What did you use to pull him out- chain or strap?

Did you hook to the receiver on your truck?

TFlory,

I used a 2. 5 inch strap hooked to his front pin and hooked to the reciever on my truck. You can just barely see it in the second photo. I just pulled straight and slow.

You lucky dog

I'd give anything just to get the opportunity to attempt that. :-laf

I carry a chain big enough to anchor the USS Ronald Regan just in case... .

Good job Tyler!

I have been able to wow a few people with my truck. :D

One of them was my neighbor who was starting to dig up a large bush. I told him to save his effort and to let me borrow his chain(I have a strap but experience tells me that a chain is better on bushes). We hooked up my truck and in 4-Lo I started to let out the clutch. Before I could start to give it fuel the auto-fuel kicked in and popped the bush right out.

He was  and said "Geez! That thing didn't even rev up!" He has a 2nd Gen with a 318 so I guess he is used to high revs to get the job done.
