This thread is an offshoot of "Pulling Heavy". I would very much like to take a trip that might include the Eisenhower pulling a 25 ft Airstream Flying Cloud with my sig truck. I would have less weight (15-16k combined?), but less hp, tq, and trans. If the new trucks "suffer" making that run, it makes me wonder about what I could expect. I don't know if it will happen, but it doesn't hurt to wish and dream. I would appreciate any comments and experiences you might share. Merry Christmas to all! Mark

Easy as falling off a log, your truck will make that run with no sweat. The new trucks don't suffer at all, towing heavy, but at 28k gvw it is not just a piece of cake either. It is very rare to encounter any grade over 6% on the interstate. There is a big difference between 6 and 7%. I am not saying 7% or even more is a problem for these trucks, just that it will make them work like were built to do.

my early 04 pulls my 13K 5er up that will little issue, i drop to 3rd, and let it run about 55. as to not push it to hard. i've been all over the rocky mountains, and it pulls GREAT!!! so worry not, drive safe.

Even my 21 year old 12 valve has pulled that grade numerous times with no problems. If you can't keep up with traffic, it doesn't matter. No matter how slow you end up I guarantee there is someone who is going slower.
