I have a 99 tdc 2500 with automatic trans. I'm experiencing a fairly hard pull to the right. I've checked the braking system completely to eliminate that as a possibility. It does not seem to make any diiference of the speed or whether I'm in 2 wheel or 4 wheel drive. I purchased it used with 37,000 miles & it had no pull, now with 47,000 miles it pulls hard enough I can't let go of the wheel or I'm heading toward the ditch. I would appreciate any input on this if anyone else has had this problem. Also looking at new tires a local tire shop has some bridgstone at's wonder what anyone thought about them. Thanks

If you have checked the brakes, front and rear, then the next thing I would try is to rotate the tires (around the truck) a couple of times and see if the symptom changes.

Like the previous switch the left front to the right front and visa versa. I bought a brand new Michelin two years ago that did that.

The dealer would not take it back till I made him do that to show the tire had a broken belt in it. I got a new tire. Went straight the second time.

I had the same problem when I bought my truck with 111,000. I did all of the things that the guys listed and it still did it. An auto mechanic friend told me to switch the brake pads from left to right and vise versa. The problem went away. The only problem is doing that is that the squeelers that let you know when your pads are getting close to being gone don't work as they are on the outside. Hope this helps

Rbricker1 - sounds like the dreaded tug of war, death pull etc.

On my second set of calipers in 25k. Thank goodness they are lifetimer's.

Try this first: LSMITH sent this to me and it does help stop the pull.

What I found was rough mating surfaces on the caliper and knuckle were responsible for the pull on my truck. Take the caliper off and use a fine cut file to smooth them. Lay the file flat against the caliper slide surface and take the high spots down, about 50% of the surface smooth is plenty. Do that on the top and bottom slides of the caliper, then do the mating surfaces on the knuckle the same way. Be sure to keep the file flat against the surfaces to maintain the angles of the surfaces. Clean the caliper pins up and polish them if necessary with 800 or finer sandpaper. Lube the pins and slide surfaces with brake lube, and be sure to remove any spacers the dealer tried to bandaid the pull with. Reassemble and your pull should be gone. All together this should take you about an hour in the driveway. Napa has a brake lube called SilGlide or something very similar. Just make sure the lube you buy and use is specifically for brakes and you are all set.
