Competition KC Dyno Meet Results

I have a 2001 HO six speed with 4. 10 that i would like to try pulling with. Its all stock. i have never pulled before, so any advice would be appreciated. What kind of hitch do i need? Anything to beware of?

Bad Idea

I believe the 01's w/6spd have a clutch that doesn't hold up well to extra hp or abuse and sled pulling would be the abuse needed to mess up your clutch, or you may get lucky? and not slip the heck out of the clutch. If you are going to pulling I would think you could start in 2nd low with out sliping the clutch and 3rd low with some slippage to get moving, for your first pull then move up gears if you feel the need or as you get comfortable with how things go. Most sled pulls require a BIG clevis with 3. 5 inch inside diameter. This advice (take it for what it's worth) is what I have learn from 3 pulls. Most important HAVE FUN !!

One or two hooks might be fine, if you dont slip the hell out of your clutch. If your tires arent too aggressive, or arent any bigger than factory, with your 4. 10's, you could probably pull in 3rdLOW. Get the chain tight, rev it to about 1800, and get it rolling, and let the clutch out quickly (DONT dump it). It just like starting out with a really big heavy trailer.

PULLER BEWARE... once you hook, you'll be hooked. Thats when it gets expensive. :p
