Looking at a 99 ALUMA LITE BY HOLIDAY RAMBLER

Has any body had a problem galling on the area that contacts the rails. I bought this hitch used and pulled a trailer back from Oregon with it. It performed great with no problems. When I took it apart to get it out of the truck I noticed that the area that sits on the rails was galled. I lubed this thing very well before my trip so I find it hard to believe that it happened on my trip. I contacted the previous owner and he was unaware that it had any galling. Had I noticed this before my trip I would have sent it back. Well, I have ground down the high spots but there are some grooves in it. Does anybody have an Idea to fix this or since I have ground down the high spots will it be OK with a generous helping of grease. Thanks in advance, Wade

My guess is that the former owner didn't lubricate it properly. Check with the Pullrite Customer Service people for advice on what to do. Casey

I'd go along with what both Casey and Rosco have said.

I failed to keep mine greased, and both rails galled. I haven't looked at the hitch itself. I hope it's okay. I had thought that I could fix the problem by replacing the two rails or maybe just turning them over, but if the hitch itself is galled, I could be looking at more.

Keep it greased.
