Ok, here goes.....

1980 W200 4x4 w/90 Cummins Non I/C, 5spd, 3. 54 dana 60's

I will probably need the assistance of a repupatable shop to replace my injection pump. So, here is the story... We marked diaphram, and indexed it like the others that were done, and the fuel pin did not want to come out, so the starwheel was turned 1 full turn CW, and diaphram about 120 degrees. Anyhow, prior to this the max boost was 12, and the truck was a turtle, but did everything you could ask of it, and after was 7psi. Something isn't right, so the top cover came off again, and re-indexed the diaphram back. After that, it was lucky to hit 6psi, and wanted to die if trying to take off in 2nd. So anyways, I had a 35 mile drive to get home, so I make it back home and look more into it... . I was finally able to pull the pin/diaphram, and it looked like it had calcium build-up on it. It took a little while to get it cleaned up, but it is clean now, but I have another problem, the lever that rides against it stuck, and from what I think is the same calcium like substance that was on the fuel pin. Anyhow I have it soaking with some penetrationg oil on it, in hopes that it will free up. Has anyone else ran into this, and what did you have to have done? If the pump has to be done, it would be the perfect time to have the 3200 spring put in... .

The stuck fuel pin your talking about is whats causing the lack of power. I had that same problem with mine and upstuck the pin this way. On the front of the pump where the pin in installed, there is a allen headed cap you can remove to be able to push the pin back in place. I had to cut the allen wrench to make it fit.

Can you describe in more detail or take pictures of the calcium like stuff that was binding the pin?

it is already cleaned off, what it could have been was some white lithium grease that dried up along time ago. I should have mentioned that this pump had never been touched since new, so we definately disturbed it. my next move is to pull off the allen head screw cover and attempt to push the pin back in. I will report back later.....

ok, pulled the throttle linkage off, and pulled the allen head plug out. I got the pin to go into the bore, but it won't go back the other way, I am figuring that there is a bunch of trash in there. I am going to let it soak 1 more day, and see if it will free up anymore. I will try to give Reb a call tomorrow afternoon.

anymore ideas, feel free to fill me in, otherwise I am thinking it is time for an overhaul on the pump.

FIXED....Reb did an OUTSTANDING JOB!!!!!

well, money WELL SPENT!!! Towed the truck over to Browns Diesel in Riverdale, and Reb fixed me right up!! This truck now has a BIG ATTITUDE! I do know that it has the 3200 spring in it, and double the cc of fuel comming out of the pump from what it was before. The pump was built locally somewhere, I forgot to ask, but KUDOS to them too, this thing is an ANIMAL now!! :-laf :-laf
