ok... it is 0* outside... i didnt plug the truck in... . i cycled the heater twice... it started... . ran like crap for a bit... . and then died... and cant get it started... ... it turns over and everything but is acting like it isnt getting fuel... . it is a 90 3/4 ... it has winterized fuel... i dont have guages so i cant tell you much more... any ideas??

Are you running any anti-gel?

Plug it in for a couple of hours and hook up a good battery charger, then give it try. If still nothing then change your fuel filter, prime the heck out of it and try again.

ok... it has been plugged in for over 3hrs. . just put in anti gel... never had a problem with this b4... . i hope it is just the fuel!!... . going to get a fuel filter right now

ok... changed the filter... the one that i took off was not gelled tho... . still changed it anyways. . primed the crap out of it and still nothing. . i also added additive to the fuel just in case... this is going on about 5hrs that it has been plugged in. . an 1hr with the additive and new filter... i am leanin more towards the pump... any other suggestions??

It's probably your lift pump. I'd almost gurantee it. We had the same problem with our 93 and our old 89. It'd start when it was warm or cool, but when it was cold it'd start then die. If you brought it in a heated garage for a few hours it'd start right up. The lift/transfer pumps in both of them were the problem. I think the problem was that when it was warm the injector pump could draw fuel past the dead lift pump, but when it was cold and the fuel was thicker it couldn't draw it past. That's why it isn't getting fuel. The pumps are pretty cheap from cummins. Take off the lift pump and look at where the arm goes in, both of ours were broken away from the plunger so it didn't move the plunger and didn't pump fuel. Corey

I think they were about $65. I'm not positive though, it was last winter when they went out. It's quite a bit cheaper than the one for my 24v. I know for sure it was under $100. Either $45 or $65, I just can't remember which one, so I'd guess the higher, which is cheap to me because it's over double that for a 24v electric pump. Corey

Corey,

Aren't people doing something with the lift pumps to help them flow better - like boreing out some flow ports, etc? Maybe that was the banjo bolts????

Any suggestions? I have 160k now and might as well replace it at my discretion and not it's.

Thanks
