just got my electrical fuel pessure gauge it is a westec. my pressure is 8-9psi idle 4-5 at 60m. p. h. and 0 at w. o. t. does tyhis mean lift pump is bad or is about to go out . or is this close to normal got my gauge from genos good stuff! thank you.

been there

i bought the exact same gauge at 86k ... had the exact same pressures ... new pump gave me 14-12-8 ... and rods max flow kit gave me 18 - 15 - 12ish at wot ... . i was amazed at the pressure increase with just a fuel line upgrade works better than advertised for me at least ... THANKS ROD!

i was the one who started this post could the fuel filter being pluged cause this pressure reading?also does just putting the regulator directly on the fuel filter top front fitting instead of using the 45 degree fitting that came in the kit cause a different reading. also does the rear fitting on the filter top read before the filter so i can tell if this is right before i buy a new pump from cummings the truck starts and runs and drives with no problems even this northern michigan winter i havent even plugged it in yet and it has gotten to zero many times i know this isnt good but it starts perfect thanks

Fuel Pressures

IMHO your LP is dying. Change it ASAP and try to maintain 8 PSI minimum until you can get it changed. The VP44 injection pump runs $1500 +- and the $130 spent on a LP is cheap insurance.

A dead or dying LP will still allow the truck to run because the VP44 is sucking fuel from your tank, but with low fuel pressures and or no fuel pressure your VP44 will not be cooled properly & will die! Just a matter of when... ... ... ... Best of luck.
