Got my truck back with the rebuilt pump yesterday. Runs GREAT but I suspect there is some power still available. The cost ended up being what I could have ordered a new pump for. I took a chance that perhaps the only problem would be a bad O-ring but ended up with a full rebuild.

I have a question for anyone with a 1st gen whether it is stock or not. Who has had their truck on a Dyno and what were the results? What kind of HP and Torque did you get. The shop that did the pump changout put the pump on straight up and then put the truck on the dyno. Did a performance tune using the dyno as a tool. Ended up with 180 HP and 430 ft/lbs at the rear wheel. He told me this would be about 225HP and 550 ft/lbs at the motor. #ad
Still have not changed the turbo housing to a 16cm but was hoping for a bit more power with the PW injectors and a slightly tweaked pump. Do the above numbers sound about right? How much additional power can be realized by changing the housing?

I told him before he started that I didn't want a lot of smoke and that is probably why he was conservative.

Wonder how long the tires will last? Hmmmmm. .

I had mine on a dyno for a Colo e test- 233. 5 and 616. It was a 45 second run, and thus not real accurqate. Still, with 15% error, it is putting over 200 hp to the wheels. I had turned up the pump a little.

I have heard the 12 housing will net 20-30 additional hp. I am open for corrections, though.

Well,
Thats kind of what I thought. There is still a lot of power to be had. I asked them to put the pump timing at 1. 35 but the marks on the side are pretty much lined up. Don't know where they set it at. May adjust a little and see what happens.

Forgot to mention - boost is about 27 psi empty with the 18 housing.

I don't know what I get right now, but hope to get onto the Dyno at Valley Fuel Injection this spring (after some clean work)just to see what stock stuff gets me. Then I plan to do the modifications and dyno it again. In doing some homework the Cummins manual shows the B5. 9 from a range of 160 to 230 HP. It looks like the same block Bore, Stroke, Intake Exhaust, etc. all the way through. I havn't deciphered yet what they do that makes the bigger ponies. Lot's more to read. I'll post differences when I discover what is/they are. Note you also need to specify the RPM when quoting HP (RPM is kinda part of the equation). Did they give you the full specs? Anyway what kinda tires are you buyin? I'm going to invest in thier stocks! Happy trails!

My truck was on the Mustang Dnamometer last fall at the BD Dyno Day. At the time of the test the truck was completely stock. (92 Reg. Cab LE, 4x4, 5spd. , 21sq housing, 3. 54 rear end, 235/85/16 Michelin XPS traction tires, stock air & original exhaust sytem).
Test results:
Max Power: 157. 1 @ 2480 RPM
Max Torque: 362. 6 @ 2000 RPM

Well, it looks like the max HP is up but sure need more torque. Don't know why I want more, the transmission probably won't take it! But what the hey, MORE POWER!! #ad

I didn't dyno mine stock. I did run it after one turn on the fuel screw. We got 220 hp and 517 in torque at the ground.
Funny part is that my economy went up slightly.
