I'm planning on doing the pusher pump install in a couple of weeks and have a question about what relay to use. I have assisted in two Carter pump installs (one an Enterprise kit and the other a Carter P4600Hp from Summit). The BG relay from Summit is about $20. I can get a relay from Radio Shack for $6. Is the RS relay up to the task of continuous duty? Does the lift pump, once the truck is started, run all of the time or does it cycle on and off? TIA
Passing this along.
I got some of Ray's banjo bolts back when he sold them direct to TDR members. I installed them shortly after recieving them, but did not drill out the banjo fittings at the time. Recently I noticed when pulling a 5-6K trailer that the FP would go down to about 1 psi under WOT. After helping some other members w/ pusher pump installs and drilling out their banjo fittings, I thought it was about time to do my own. Well, there is a huge difference. Now, FP won't go much below 5 psi. If your not sure what I'm talking about, the fittings in question are in the line from the lift pump to the filter housing. These are what the banjo bolts, bolt thru. I just stuck them in a vise and drilled them out to . 199" (#8) drill bit. Although 13/64" (. 203") is pretty close. I did drill them out w/ 3/16" (. 187") first and then #8. I used a cordless drill this time and it was much easier that doing it on a drill press. The bit will self align while drilling. Mopar-muscle told me about it, I just didn't do it at the time. (Actually, I didn't understand what he was referring to at the time. ) I think Bill K. mentioned it to him. Just wanted to give credit where credit is due.
