I am curious about how some have there pump set after installing PW’s. I will be installing “larger” injectors to reduce stress on my pump. If I leave the pump where it is and install PW’s, will it be any easier on the pump? Or is it necessary to turn down the power screw also? If I leave the pump set the same, with the power screw in 1-¼ turns, and the diaphragm stet to the “richest” setting, will smoke will be an issue? I like a puff of smoke, not a trail that follows me wherever I go. I could stiffen up the AFC spring to get rid of some smoke, but would I have to go so far that it would hurt performance?
My timing is now at 1. 31 mm, from 1. 25mm. I honestly didn’t notice a difference. I would have gone farther but the pump shop talked me out of it. :-{} I understand the theory of advancing the timing. When more fuel is being added it is necessary to give it more time to burn. So, advancing it further to about 1. 4mm would be better. But I don’t have another $95 to spend on this. I could just push it forward a bit myself. But I know the dangers of going too far, and don’t want to do that.
Any thoughts and ideas are appreciated.
