whats the max degree advancement you can adjust the pump for max performance on a 94 cummins?

Till the end of time!!!! for max performance:-laf

Depending on what you have done to your truck like head studs or O-ringed

16 degrees would be good for a few mods, Like injectors delievery valves and some pump work

dont go over 16. 5 degress of timing on a stock head gasjet, or you'll be pulling your head soon. wheen you advance the timing, cylinder pressures spike, and that can be the end of a stofck head gasket in no time, with orings or fire rings, anything over 23. 5 deg. of timing becomes not very street freindly, hard to start, due to the advacned timing, especially in the winter time.

heres a hint, one of the highest hp 12v's runs only 20 degrees (he has tried up to 35) and i know of another very high hp 12v that only ran 21. i poped my stock hg with only 16 degrees, piers always suggested 15-15. 5 on stock hg. with too high of timing you loose a lot of bottom end power, but you gain more on the top end

how high can you go on stock pistons without melting holes in them? I was thinking of setting mine to 20*.

Mine is at 20degs. and It bury's the 1600deg. pyro when im pulling.

no problems yet :-laf

one more prob with increased timing is it is hard on the pistons and wrist pins when you lug the motor down, so it is best to keep the rpms higher as timing is higher.

aw, maybe thats what I was thinking of. Anyone know of a chart that has lift specs for 16+ degrees? Or know how much lift is required for 20*?
