I read in my first TDR Magazine that a 2001 Dodge Ram 4x4 w/Cummins engine comes standard with 4 wheel ABS and rear disc brakes. My truck does not have disc brakes and I had to pay extra for 4 wheel ABS. Can anyone clarify this issue?
Disc brakes are slowly replacing the rear drums, as production replaces older stock. Four wheel antilocks are optional, two wheel standard. Did you not read your dealer's option book before buying?
You'll love you truck, keep us posted.

There are two versions of the 2001 model. Trucks built after July 2000 got the 4 wheel disc ABS brakes as standard equipment. The earlier versions were drum on the rear with the ABS optional. Most guys on the site are calling the later version a 2001. 5 to distinguish it from the drum brake version even though they are really all 2001 models.
I would argue that the 2001. 5 is the true 2001. The 2001 is really a 2000 with a different label on it. This comes from a guy who has no rear discs, and who ordered his "2001" on Feb. 17, 2000. #ad
Benson your on top of this one. The 01. 5's both 2500's and 3500's have 4 wheel disc and 4 wheel ABS as standard equipment. The July build shows the difference..... Pete
