Well, I have decided my truck is just too much of a dog and I had to do something to make some power. Tell me if this is a good starting point and if I need anything else. Also, any guesstimates on power output I can expect? Thanks

So far purchased but not installed:

TST #10 plate kit

TST 16cm hoousing

TST governor spring kit

AFE air intake

Installed as of today:

Autometer 60PSI Ultra Lite boost gage

Autometer 1600° pyrometer

Autometer Oil temperature gage

With that 16cm housing in combination with those big tires. . you may not like the lag of the turbo... You also may see that your egts will be higher.

I have a 16cm housing on my PDR HX35 now and I also have a 14cm wastegated housing sitting at the house ready to go on. Running empty I dont have a egt problem but once I hook the my 11k trailer. . and start up a 6% grade. . things start to warm up.

That is the reason that I am stepping down to the 14 so that with the volume of exhuast that I am producing should spool the turbo up better.

Looks good. My only suggestion would be to grab a set of the 370 injectors from Piers as they are on sale right now. Even if you don't install them immediately, the price is great. They are one of the best bangs for the buck as far as injectors go, particularly when they're on sale.

Beyond that, start saving for a turbo, and a clutch like KennyM said!

with that 10 plate and those size tires, if you are even a slightly aggressive driver I see you needing a clutch very soon in your future.

Give www.southbendclutch.com a call. There customer service is awsome, and Peter will ask you exactly what you have done to the truck, what your future (hp) plans are, and what you use it for and then will sell you what he deems the best clutch for your application. He won't try to sell you more clutch than you need either, cause he tried to talk me back down from a Con FE (550HP clutch) to a OFE (450HP clutch) when I bought one earlier this year for my previous 97... . still got the FE :-laf

Thanks for the help... always nice when you dont know a whole bunch and people are willing to help out. I took the advice and ordered some 370 injectors just now, so should be ok there.

It was mentioned that I may run higher EGas temps than I want too, so I was wondering if I leave the #10 plate in the middle..... will that keep them at a safe temperature? Thanks

#10 and 370's..... even if the plates in the middle you will be able to get VERY HOT EGT's without sevre air intake and exhaust upgrades.

You are going to need a new clutch to hold all of that power as well... I'm telling you! :(

Ok... . so woth the cold air intake, the 16cm housing and a 4" exhaust... ... is that not enough to make it breath well? Any suggestions of what I should do so as NOTto run too hot? Oh and dont worry... . I will get a clutch too.

Sorry forgot you picked up the 16cm housing, and must have skimmed over the AFE part... I'm partial to Scotty II's.

Yeah those and the 4" exhaust should really help with your EGT's. I don't know if you will like the extra lag a lot of people say will come with a 16cm housing though. You may want to see if you can find a 14cm.

I did a 97' 5 Speed two weeks ago and put the #10 in the stock position with 3K's and a 16 housing and it would make 1400 degrees... top of 5th at 32 PSI and the stock clutch would slip... ... get an AFC spring kit too and use the stiffer of the two springs..... every 215 pump needs the spring changed out.

clutch

I installed a TST #11 on my truck with stock clutch. slid it up a good ways and the stock clutch would slip. With 370's and a #10 yours probably wont handle much either. I got a button clutch from a guy who has a small shop and he has a guy who makes clutches for tractors make a clutch to handle high hp and abuse. There are several guys around town who have these clutches with much more hp than me and the clutch could handle it no problem. We beat the crap out of them and they take it. Plus it is really cheap compared to many of the other clutches out there (im on a tight budget).

After we installed the clutch I pulled the plate and plugged the wastegate up. Sometimes get high egts and I am sure somone will tear me apart for posting this, but no plate is how many trucks around here run and they havent had any problems. My point is, you will need a clutch or you will just slip the stock one. Also, many people praise SB I personally have never had any experience with them. But I would search around and form your own opinion.
