'04 Overheated Transmission - Should I Change Fluids?

I found a good deal on a Pac Brake PRXB from an outfit called Alligator Performance. While speaking with him he asked if I wanted the in-line PRXB and he went on to inform me it was a better set up and easier to install. I was going to purchase the elbow mount and I was wondering if anyone has the in-line set up and is it easier to install and maintain, as it’s not under the hood? How is the best way to set one up with the on-off shifter mount or via the fuel or brake petal? Your experiences and information are appreciated.

Contact Jim, owner of Pacific Clutch & Brake in Spokane. He's a active TDR member and a distributor for PAC Brake. He goes by jelag.

Hope this helps, george

I have the turbo mounted PRXB on my '07 and couldn't be happier! It has worked flawlessly for the 2 years it has been installed. The kits are real complete and easy to install. I mounted the brake switch on my stick shifter.

Hey motorhead

thanks for the pics

I too have the 2 micron filter setup from Glacier and was wondering if it would interfere with the pacbrake install.

The compressor that comes with the pacbrake, how much air does it put out?

Could you air up a tire with it? I guess what I'm asking is how long would it take to pump up a tire? Would this take longer than the duty cycle would allow?

Dennis

I move the compressor to the PDC, The Pump is 5. 5 years old. We'll those in-line brakes won't last around here In the snow belt, the direct mount is much easier to install.

Dennis, The Glacier set-up doesn't interfere with the compressor. The pump is small but it will inflate a tireot in a hurry. My kit came with an air tool bag and if you are not in a hurry, it will inflate a tire no problem. I want some air horns for my truck so I will have to mount a bigger compressor and tank.

I just replaced my air compressor on my PRXB. It looked like the ones pictured above.

The replacement is slightly longer and has two improved features. The duty cycle is now in the 30's vs. the 20's and it comes with a check valve on the outlet of the compressor, so it no longer leaks down, back through the compressor. So it won't cycle as often or leak down overnight and empty the 0. 5 gallon tank that came with my pacbrake airbags.

You might check to make sure you get the newer model of the pump.

What model pump did you replace yours with?

I just purchased a the pacbrake from Jim at Pacific Clutch & Brake. It's on the way and can't wait till I recieve it. There is a $100 rebate on Pacbrake's website that is good through the end of this month. Just type in rebate in the search column and follow along, it's there. It has to be post marked by Sept. 30th I believe. Jim is very helpful and glad to know that he can help me in the future.

My first brake was the elbow/turbo mount PacBrake, when I installed the compounds I had to go to the in-line mount, while I was at it I went to a 5" exhaust system, so I got the 5" in-line unit. It was an easy install, works great, just like the elbow/turbo mount. The back pressure seems to be about the same as the 4" elbow/turbo mount. I mounted mine at the crossmember by the transmission, if you wanted to do some weather protection you could easily fab up a plate to get it done.
