I have removed three door liners in the past two weeks and they are a pain to reconstruct after removal. Them things are super glued to the door and must be removed to R&R the window motor/electric lock actuator/electric mirror etc. etc.

I find it easiest to trim one inch off the OD of the liner to allow room for the tape to fasten them onto the door. Otherwise I'd have . 5" to 1" of tape exposed from OD of the door panel.

Please tell me these heavy plactic liners serve some purpose as I have spend a goodly amount of time reconstructing them back onto said door. Thank goodness for school bus seat cloth tape.

Indeed. If the "squeegee" seals where the window goes into the door fail, you will notice a buildup of water in the bottom of the door... . especially if the drain holes are blocked. The starboard door on "ol Blue" used to "drain" every time I opened it after a good rain.

They are tp keep water from getting in, and also to help keep the back of the door panel dry. An easy way to re-construct them is to get some butyl rubber tape (a glass shop should know/be able to get it),lay out the butyl tape in the same pattern as the factory glue/goop and then use a heavy duty contractor type garbage bag, stick it to the butyl tape and trim the excess with a razor.

Hey P... .

I like your sig. When I was a (shop) school teacher, we couldn't give a student a poor grade if a job wasn't performed 100% correctly. Say a brake job on a customers 40' reffer van. If the student did MOST of the work correctly they are to recieve a passing grade.

I guss that's ok. When you take your truck or trailer to a garage, the techs only have to get 60/70% of the brake linings on correctly... . right? And you don't REALLY need all SIX cylinders firing properly either... ... .....
