After some Q and A sessions with both Chris Sutton and Brandon (thank you both), I am going to install a pusher pump setup back towards the tank. However, I am mechanically competent and an electrical nimrod. Where are you all pulling power for your pusher pumps? Is there an extra switched circuit that we can use? Are people taking steps to make the auxillary setup act like the stock pump, ie. not pump while the engine cranks to start but then kick in? I tried to search for this stuff, but didn't find anything.

Pusher pump

You will need to use a relay. Check the existing pump while it is runnig and tap that wire to signal the relay to send power to the pusher pump. On the Carter pump make sure you connect the possitiv and negativ to the proper terminals, it is marked on the white inbetween the terminals. Sam.

Grease,

If you do one thing, buy the harness from Cummins (part #4025182).

It makes the job much easier whether you are installing a pusher or moving your lift pump back towards the tank. The harness should have a tag on the + lead, test it first make sure you have the right lead.

The harness eliminates the PITA of having to free the factory lift pump harness from the spiral wrap and tape. You can add your splices on the bench and then just plug it. It also keeps the integrity of your factory harness intact.

I wish I had known about the harness when I did my pusher, I spent more time accessing and wiring the splices to the factory lift pump then the rest of the job combined.

Shoot Dave,

We all know real men (or morons as the wife says) don't need no stinkin' pigtail harness to hook up their pusher pumps, Right?:-laf Why, *Iceman* can do it one handed.
