how can i hook up my carter 15psi so that it comes on after the truck starts?now its wired into the harness for the lift pump. whats happening is she must be flooding at start up,i think this because once i do get it started she runs greatalso when i bypass the pusher she starts right up! please help!

What you are looking for is a Hobbs presure switch that you would install in a oil presure port . (were your gauge or sending unit is now) the swiches come in diffrent presure ranges. Also you need to get one that is normaly open as they come both normaly open and closed. If you got one that made contact at 35-45 # as soon as your truck startes your pusher pump will run . You would need to run one of your feed wires to your pusher pump through the presure switch breaking the power untill you have oil presure then the pusher pump will run... George

What about a timer in series with the power from the stock lift pump set at about 4 seconds? Just used one at work recently, that's why I thought of it, maybe it won't work.

Sounds odd... my 7PSI Carter pusher pump is also wired directly into the same circuit as my factory lift pump, and I have had it for about 15 months now, and never once had any issues with starting. As soon as I move the key to the wait-to-start position, both pumps run for a split second, and I see pressure register on my fuel pressure gauge, but then they both stop and I have 0 PSI, and I don't hear the pusher running. And believe me, it is loud. When I am standing next to the truck while fueling it up, I almost always leave the engine idling, and I can easily hear the pusher buzzing merrily away, even over the engine noise!

On my 2001 I tap fuse 16 and 17. One (I think it is 17) has power in both cranking and run/on positions and I use it for my Comp Box, which needs uninterrupted power. While the other (I think 16) only has power while the ignition switch is in the on/run position. I use it to power the relay for my accessory fuse block. If you hook your pusher pump relay up to fuse 16, which cuts power while in the start or cranking position the pusher pump will not be energized. This should keep the fuel pressure at factory settings during cranking and allow you to avoid setting fault codes and having hard starts. Use a test light to confirm the fuse numbers.
