Hey all,

Went to the local Stealer today and test drove a used '01 w/ 13,000 on it. They have it stickered for $27,999..... well, 400 miles away you can buy a brand new '02 for $26,100 out the door, so that was a no go... the salesman also told us that the 2001 had an Allison transmission in it... . got a laugh there... anyway, on to my question...

Friend and I got into a discussion about whether you would need a pusher pump setup if running an '01 w/ Edge Comp and DD2's. He was saying that the fuel pressure at WOT would be too low to sustain it and you'd end up basically starving the engine of fuel... . true? Of course, I'm assuming a lift pump that is functioning 100% all the time. I don't think you need one. What's the take on this deal?

Also, driving that '01, it had Stage 3 injectors, and the transmission slipped 3 distinct times... .complained about it, and the manager said that he'd send it to the shop in the morning, have them look at it, and do something. Also said that if my friend were to buy it, and the transmission went out, they'd give him a check to put any aftermarket transmission in it that he wanted!!!! Sounds like a good deal to me, if they'd just drop the price on it about $4,000.

Sorry for RAMbling.

Get it in writing sounds like bs. Regardless my experience has been that they get you comin and going.

Only 30% or so of the fuel being sent to the fuel pump is used the other 70% goes back to the tank is my understanding. So in reality the lift pump is sending much more fuel than the engine needs. This is for cooling and lubrication purposes. I believe this gives us alot of room to use that fuel that is just making a round trip. A pusher never hurt anyone but its not an absolute must have. As long as the lift is operating properly.

IMHO, a stock Carter pump, in perfect running condition, would be able to supply the demand needed for the stage 2's and the Comp. box. All that may be needed is to open the flow via bored out banjo bolts or better yet, Weber fittings.

I'm with Bigsaint here... a perfetly healthy stock lift pump will provide adequate pressure.

You better be comparing apples to apples here. I see the same ads run by Dave Smith, Bill Pierre, etc all the time, and for $26k you get a stripped ST with no options, no AC, no LSD, nothing.

MikeR,

Apples to apples..... guranteed!!! I called, and asked, two friends called and asked, one ended up buying an '02. The local stealer didn't believe it either, but the ad does state "your choice: 5, 6 speed, or auto. SLT Package. No leather. All '02's on the lot". I was also informed by the salesman that he would order (from another dealer) any color that I wanted, and have it within 1 week... . no extra cost. $26, 880... . sure wish I wanted to go that far into debt... . guess I just gotta wait till September. This was Timberline Dodge in Portland.

Timberline is doing that sale?? Unbelievable! I didn't think Timberline even knew what a 5spd or 6spd was, never seen them on their lot before!

i have the paper work right here

We just picked it up today. A 2002 fully loaded 4-wheel drive xcab with everything but leather. The price out the door was 26,202 with a security system. This was from dicks country dodge. I found the add in the Oregonian. If you want i will put the paper work on here.

I'm running the COMP and DD-3's, combined with drilled-out banjo bolts. At WOT on 5/5, fuel pressure gets down to 7-8psi, normal driving I'm seeing around 11psi, measuring pre-filter. No pusher pump, but the stock lift pump has been replaced once.

I have a pusher on my 98 with the EZ and DDIIs. If I'm not getting the fuel I need and the truck does this good... I don't want to be tempted...
