Pusher Pump

I am collecting parts to install a pusher pump & filter @ (or near) the tank. Any suggestions as to what pump & regulator works well with diesel fuel?

Are you doing away with the stock lift pump? If not, a pusher will actually work against the diaphram lift pump. As it can only open and close so fast... from what I understand. I hear the Aeromotive $$ A1000 works good with diesel fuel. Then a 3-15psi bypass/return regulator is needed with the high psi A1000. I'm sure there are other options to use that are less expensive and complicated.

That is a little more than I wanted to spend. My thoughts were to supply the diaphram pump with 1-2 psi, the same as the fuel tank being higher than the pump to take some of the load off of the pump & some insurance incase the pump went out. Or would it be better to supply all, or more than the VE needs?

Another option would be the piston lift pump conversion. Would cost you around $200 for all the parts needed. It's a bolt up job, all from Cummins. You would get 13-16psi at idle, 10+psi at WOT. Plenty for 99% of 1st gen owners. It is a more reliable pump that the stock lift pump which is a 3-5psi at idle pump and prone to going bad, along with not near enough to keep up with a tuned pump and injectors. This would be all the insurance you would need IMO.

are you saying that there is a cummins part that replaces our stock lift pumps and supplies more psi?



my pump has been tweaked by the pdr boyz (don't know exactly what they did), i am running bosch "190" injectors and an hx-35 with 16cm housing.



how would i benefit from running a piston lift pump?
