Sometimes after stopping at a light, when I try to accelerate it feels like I'm pushing against a wall. The engine won't pick up RPM's; it just bogs. I've had to run through the gears (AT) and then it goes fine. One mechanic suggested that some of the AT's like a little more fluid. That didn't seem to help a whole lot. Another said the symptoms sounded like a stuck brake caliper that he saw on a manual transmission rig. This seems to be getting worse lately. Anyone else have this problem? Thanks

Could be you are starting in 2nd or 3rd gear. I just changed the gov pressure solonoid and sensor to fix this problem. The parts are about $200 plus fluid and filter. This is an easy fix after you get the pan and filter off. Just unplug two connectors and unbolt a retainer block.

My 98 sometime does the same thing. It specially does it when I stop on an incline for a long light. I was told it was torque converter drain back. What I would do is to put it back into park then back into drive and and it was fine. My fluid level is normal ( I check my trans level in drive with the ebrake set) .

AMink, if you are having 2/3rd gear starts it can damage your trannie if not fixed. But then you can get a real trannie.

That's on "THE LIST"! I don't know if it's 2nd or 3rd though... the truck doesn't move at all. I would think that, especially in 2nd, it would at least start to go. Actually... "Honey, the transmission in my truck broke. I need to get a new one. " instead of "Honey, I want to replace a perfectly good part with a perfectly better part. " HA!

I don't know exactly where this question should go, so I'll put it here on one of my original posts... I can't get my Truck Profile to stay! I've gone to "Edit Truck Profile", filled it in, and saved it. When I go back to "Edit", nothing is there and nothing on my posts. Am I doing it wrong? (Apparently?) Thanks

It should start out just fine in 2nd. 3rds alil more of a struggle (for my truck anyway). I just pull mine down to 2nd and it takes off like it should but if I leave it in drive it takes off in 3rd.

I just changed the gov. pressure solenoid and the gov. pressure transducer like Tom W and it fixed my problem with the truck starting in 2nd gear. After I got that problem fixed, the TPS started acting up so I changed it also. Now "Old Green" is taking off like it did when new... ... ... .....
