Well, this was an adventure. Not so much their fault, but there at not many places to mount such a thing under a QC SB. Tried the inside of the frame rail but there was not enough room between the tank and transfer case.

So I wound up mounting it in the same spot, outside the rail.

I will try to get pic, as we had to cut a notch in the bracket for the parking brake cable.

On the happy side, lots of pressure, even with the stock filter still inline, nice unit, quality parts, I feel I got my money's worth. And I am so happy to forget about the whole fuel system now. Too many LP worries are worth 300 extra.

My truck was a long bed and my AirDog mounted nicely inside the frame rail, just behind the transfer case and above and inside the skid plate. I know you have some brackets outside the frame rails to clear when you mount it but I kind of feel bad you had some issues with the short bed. On their website if you look at the FP-80/FP-100 mounting pictures, photo gallery, it looks like it is on a short bed truck because the distance between the fuel tank and the T-case is a lot less than my truck.

Well, all told it should be no problem, and the hose routing was easy as pie.

I was worried one could see them standing next to the truck, as I live in the 'hood, but not unless you bend down are they visible.

The unit would probably have fit in the space recommended, but the main bracket would have blocked access to the xfer case drain/fill plugs.

Love the unit, I kept my stock filter in place and can make up a dummy filter can for the airdog in case of extreme cold and use the stock filter (still in) and it's lovely heater. So far no prob, 5 micron on the unit, stock 10 micron in place, and this morning I was out at 7:30am with -15f and still had more than 10psi wot.

Schlickenmeyer,

Yeah you're right it does block access to the T-case fill plug but I've got enough slack in the lines that all I have to do is loosen the AirDog mounting bracket and drop my skid plate and I can change the T-case oil fine. You know you shouldn't second guess your self now and just look at it this way, your set up is easier to service.

Regards, Mike.

Airdog fitment on SWB 4x4

This is a quote from Pureflow Technology's website installation page

'Depending on truck's model and year location might be different. Installation requires about 8 inches of clearance between the transfer case and fuel tank. In short-cab 4WD pickups it is likely not to have enough clearence space. "

I would be surprised if you ordered it directly from Pureflow and talked to them about your SWB, 4x4 application, and they even sold you one. The bracket they supply will not fit. Their product liability stance is that mounting the fuel pump outside the frame is hazardous.

I went through a good deal of frustration trying to install mine before I tracked down the guy who fabricated the old style, outside the frame mounts. He fabbed one for me and it's all good now. I've had my Airdog for a couple of years, and it's been flawless.

I'm glad you figured out your install. I hope others who want to install an Airdog on this configuration won't have as hard a time of it.

Yeah, I understand their position, and asked my uncle (who's shop I was at) if it

was in danger, he pointed out it hangs just a low in either location, and the step bar and skid plate were both lower. I have no worries at all, even off road, except in the most extreme situations, I can't see this hitting anything.
