but... but...

he... he removed the spare tire and bumper... so perhaps he would get slammed?

Heck, stop with the little things... if you want to lighten it up to go faster, let's get serious:

Yank the bed. If you're not going to tow with it, you probably won't haul anything, either. Lose it. (This will make mounting a 5th wheel hitch easier, and no tall bed sides to worry about, either).

Lose the 35 gallon fuel tank - replace it with a 5 gallon fuel cell. Should be real easy to do when the bed's off.

That rear window? Doesn't do a thing for ya... . toss it. Replace it with a window net for that ultra-cool look. The same goes for the four side windows.

Heck, while you're at it, lose the rear doors. Again - they do nothing for speed. Just more dead weight looking to come out.

Yank the transfer case. That's about 120lbs. of steel and aluminum that does nothing for the go-fast-ness you're after. Get a 2WD transmission tailshaft and a 2WD rear driveshaft. If you're really serious, lose the whole front axle and replace it with a 2WD spindle setup. Remember- lighter = faster.

Pull the whole damn A/C system - compressor, condensor, the works. That's weight, AND drag on the engine. Your truck is cool enough by itself that it should be 20° below ambient all the time, anyway.

Gut the interior. Carpeting, center consoles, upholstered seats... it's all ET-sucking weight. Take the floor down to bare metal (use a REALLY thin rubber mat, if you MUST), and put in an aluminum (or better yet, carbon fiber) racing seat. You'll have to weld a crossbar behind the seat to attach the 5-point harness. Unfortunately, this will add some weight back, but hey, ya GOTTA have some restraints when this thing hits 200MPH.

There's a whole lot more you can do, but this should be a decent start. Good luck :)

I always lighten my load when my family gets out----Wife = 135 kid #1 = 110 and kid #2 = 150-----------the ol slug really screams then. LOL

Oh yea! Each piece of carbon fiber is good for at least 5 horsepower in the racing world ;)

And with the bed off, it opens up all that space on the back of the cab, below the back window netting, for all those performance stickers from the rice shop. Aren't they good for about 5hp each?

Even with the bed off, you'd better put on a tonneau cover, cause you know they help MPG and therefore HAVE to help with air flow and ultimately at least another... ... uh..... 1/10 second faster!;)

this has been done :)

Also, I just did remove the fold flat floors and the rear seats.

Next thing to come off is the bed. Thats tomorrow.

I ordered a 10 gallon fuel cell also...

JUST KIDDING...

Did anyone request the spare parts? I desperatly need a spare tire, rim and the crank down deal. Somebody decided that they needed mine and took it without asking.

Have Fun

Slam... . Slam... . Slam...

I think what people are failing to realize is that it IS Nick's truck, and he should not be beaten over his choices.

I would say that 99% of us have done something to our truck that somebody else has just shaken their head at and went "what the hell were you thinking".

Nick, I would keep your stock parts just incase you change your mind or want/need to sell the truck.

There are some thoughtful insights here. I've had some experience at this and it's reaffirmed itself over the years.

When I have a single passenger in my 66 VW doublecab, I go up hills pretty good... . but if I add a 170 lb passenger in the back, performance suffers noticably. I will say after I did my engine mods, that it is less noticable.
